Unless you work 24hrs. day at your profession, you're not looseing money reloading in your offtime. That is and has always been a stupid comparison. Okie

    bolt action or semi-auto?

Any CZ you get will be of good quality. Never heard a barrel manufacturer advice against fluteing. Yes, they'll heat faster because there's less metal....they'll also cool faster.... because there's less metal...and more surface area. Of coarse we're talkin same diameter barrels. Always have...

Rifle Scopes Will Rings Need Lapping

I agree w/ MF, I like to lap rings too, just too easy to be sure. If you were'nt going to worry about Larue though, I sure would'nt worry about Badger Ord. okie

hidden history in my type 99!

I have several Arisakas, one 6.5 and a couple 7.7's. Most proud of the 7.7 my dad shipped back from Okinawa after they retook the islands. He was heavy weapons company commander in the 7th. 5 landings in the Pacific, first wave in 3. I've shot it many times, dead on and easy to hit with. No...

Rifle Scopes Good quality scope caps available today?

Best powder for accuracy with a gas powered 308?

Wow, you and LRR are impressive marksmen. You're just now getting comfy with "ladder testing" (which has been being used for decades) but consider ragged holes at 200 a joke and have to "push out" to 300 to 600 yrds to get out of the "ragged hole" delemma. Maybe you can post some pics {with...

Gunsmithing Double click on bolt lift

I think you're gonna just conferm what you already know with the paper clip.....you've got a rough chamber near the case head. I see whats been mentioned near your thumb but I see no abnormality in the case wall, dosn't mean its not there though. If the fired case feeds smoothly untill it...

Gunsmithing Double click on bolt lift

What do you mean by "double click"? Is this a new poblem on a rifle that has been performing well or a problem you've always had with it? okie

Best powder for accuracy with a gas powered 308?

Ive burnt 4895, 4064, RL15 and Varget and came up with good loads for the. 308's I load for with all of them....but Varget is what I use after all's said and done. Okie PS. Oh, 178 A Max's, 11.25 twist Armalite AR10 T w/ 2500+ rnds, stll sub moa.

Rifle Scopes Two piece base issue

Yep, lap if they're not too far off. I've never bothered painting the lapped area, its unseen after the scope is mounted and I've never had any kind of problem caused by it.

    Can't locate a 700-5R 308, other 700 options?

LTR. 12 twist but mine actually prefers 175/178's that are pushed just a bit. Shoots to 1K just fine. okie

    Two piece mounts

Damn Rick, you're a thick headed SOB ;) . Unless some one is measureing thier bases off of thier own Howa 1500, its not gonna help you a bit. Those bases are made specific to the type reciever they are made to fit. I JUST took a set off a Springfield 03a3 reciever I bought that the front...

WOOOHHHOOO! I am the proud new owner of a CZ 527 Varmint!!!

I'm a big CZ fan. Have a 452 I love and my shooting pard has the rifle you have, it is an absolutely fantastic shooter....great trigger. You're gonna be very happy with it. I have several friends that have them and are very pleased with thier performance. I'm always looking for another deal...

Rifle Scopes Scope & Base advice please

Yes, I understood that, everything I've said still aplies. If your base had too much cant (high in the back, low in the front) you would be unable to zero it at shorter distances, not longer. Sooo, you have yet to make sure your reticle is centered in the tube when you're zeroed ( sighted in...

My 1903A4 Vintage Sniper project is finished!

Where'd ya get the base and rings? The base SWFA sent me (twice) for an 03A3 has two mounting holes in front and one in back of the action? Yep, thats one too many holes in front. My 03A3 actioned rifle has one hole in front and one in back....like yours. The Leupold base I got that says...

Rifle Scopes Scope & Base advice please

Rick, I'm haveing a little trouble understanding your posts so please excuse me if I'm repeating myself. It sounds like you're saying you're zeroed at the "3" mark and bottomed out at the "4", so you have 1 moa of travel in one direction? That is NOT gonna work. It also sounds like you're...

Rifle Scopes Scope & Base advice please

Rick, I still suspect your reticle is way off center when you are zeroed. If it is way off, either in elevation or windage, you can loose a conciderable amount of the travel on your elevation turret. To check, with the scope zeroed, turn your windage turret all the way to stop in both...
