    Howa 1500 Barreled Action - 6.5 Creedmoor - 24 Inch - Heavy #6 - Threaded

Good question. BTW, very interesting history with Howa. Once upon a time they made Sako's, did button rifling, started making their own, got into patent infringement problems, started hammer forging, two stage trigger, etc. Doesn't mention if they ream or forge the chamber. If I had a bore...

    Howa 1500 Barreled Action - 6.5 Creedmoor - 24 Inch - Heavy #6 - Threaded

This is cool. I just ran across the "Howage" barrel from McGowen Barrel. http://mcgowenbarrel.com/the-howage/ Anyone with experience? Update: Well, it would be cool if they had any inventory. All I can find on the site is their explanation of the "Howage" barrel.

    Howa 1500 Barreled Action - 6.5 Creedmoor - 24 Inch - Heavy #6 - Threaded

Well, Howa does advertise "Cold hammer forged barrel." Regardless, Howa does have posted a pretty detailed break-in instruction: https://www.legacysports.com/wp-content/uploads/howa-break-in.pdf

    MPA Chassis and MDT mags

Yes. It pops up at a steep angle instead of toward the chamber. I have to pull the bolt back a bit, let the cartridge settle, then push it forward into the chamber. The rounds are seated to COAL of 2.8 I should hook up my phone on a tripod and do a video of it. To be fair, I really should try...

    MPA Chassis and MDT mags

Does anyone else have a problem with the 308 MDT poly mags popping the first cartridge up out of battery. I'm only loading five rounds in the 8 round magazine. I wonder if it's a factor that I habitually insert the mag with the bolt back? Any ideas? It happens a lot. FYI, this is with a Howa...

    Gunsmithing Affordable Borescope/Fiberscope

After writing the previous, I searched eBay and Amazon. Does anyone have any experience with the Lyman borescope?

    Gunsmithing Affordable Borescope/Fiberscope

This is a six year old thread, so have there been any advancements, worthwhile competition?

Episode 81 & The Troll Rant

It doesn't surprise how many self appointed gurus and "operators" there are on YouTube. Just look at all the fakes exposed at thisainthell.us and mliitaryphony.com. Apparently in public I'm up to my *ss in Navy SEALs and Airborne Rangers and don't even know it.

    Gunsmithing Pacific Tool and Gauge

All this is good to know. I've had no problems with their SA and LA Rem 700 firing pin assemblies I bought through Midway a few years back. I'll have to admit, they were a distinct improvement over factory.

    Howa 1500 Barreled Action - 6.5 Creedmoor - 24 Inch - Heavy #6 - Threaded

Finally got to the range to start breaking the new rig in. I had an original Howa DBM setup, the factory Hogue stock, and a Valdada IOR 2-Piece rail to mount the SWFA SS 10x42. I read up on Mike Rock's barrel burnishing technique for new barrels. He would use a moly/alcohol solution to saturate...

    Confiscation in Seattle

Talk about morons.... I belonged to a range (supervision free) for a while. During some reconstruction work, the gate was left open a lot and about half the berm at 100 yard rifle was about half height. Some brainless fool set a steel target on TOP of the lowered berm. Story is one or more .556...

This report settles the 9mm vs .45 debate

But, is it an "assault" flamethrower?

Has anyone actually gotten their hands on the new Lyman Cyclone Case Dryer?

Got mine today as well. Haven't had a chance to use yet. For shaking out the water, I use an old t-shirt. Rolling them around inside it and shaking them about does it for me. Thanks for the update.

    Gain twist barrels?

I can see why it's such an uphill battle; kind of like "why aren't we metric by now?" There's a huge investment in expensive tooling that does things "one twist and it's RH." Outside of saving money to afford it, I guess I'll have to wait on a new barrel until I can find the right (affordable)...

    Gain twist barrels?

I think the most important consideration in the debate is the fact that issues like this are long overdue in their undertaking. Years ago, Camp Perry was the only long range game around. Now, barrel makers are being forced to consider an emerging market. Yards are like elevation. Some people are...

    Gain twist barrels?

Just to refresh, what is the purpose of the LH rifling? Is it a coriolis thing? If so, would RH be better down under the equator?

Rifle Scopes SightMark Citadel 5-30x56 LR2 Riflescope SM13040LR2: a running review

It certainly looks good. Truth is, that crazy tree style reticle is beginning to grow on me. It will be a while before I've got bucks to spend on a scope anyway. I've got to sell an M24 in 30-06 and start reloading 6.5 Creedmoor. When you get yours, be sure to put up some comments on it.

Rifle Scopes SightMark Citadel 5-30x56 LR2 Riflescope SM13040LR2: a running review

Finishing up the running review.... This was my test rig today. Note the addition of the Caldwell Stinger shooting rest. I finally managed to get some kind of images through the Sightmark Citadel itself. This is the view of the target line at 5X. The is the view at 30X To be honest, the...
