Hunting & Fishing Peninsula Brown Bear

Bear was taken on the 12th day of the hunt. Hunted the first eight days on snow shoes in high winds. Weather finally broke and snow melted off. Sometimes perseverance is rewarded.

I don't neck turn, how should I seat?

Re: I don't neck turn, how should I seat? It depends on the bullet you are going to use. Tangent ogive bullets "usually" like to be jumped. Secant ogive bullets "usually" shoot best being jammed.

    Hunting & Fishing Coyote bait

Re: Coyote bait Deer backbones and ribcages from your local deer processor. Get a truckload and store them in a barn or shed. Take two at a time and wire them to a tree or a T-post that you can ambush as JCH stated. If you don't wire them to something they will haul them off. If you don't...

Hunting & Fishing Thinning the herd/coyotes

Re: Thinning the herd/coyotes Southbreeze, The bag to the right of the rifle is in a sled I built out of finished oak 1xs. They slide back and forth over the sawmill 2x4s I built the house out of. The sandbags are old pantlegs cut to length. You turn them inside out, sew one end closed and...

    6.5 X 47 Lapua pet loads

Re: 6.5 X 47 Lapua pet loads The two I have worked with (one 1-8 tw. and one 1-9 tw.) prefered Varget in the 37.0 to 37.5 range. This is with Berger 130 VLD's jammed using Wolf primers. RL-15 gave good accuracy but not as consistent as Varget. It is an easy round to load for. Hope this helps.

Re: Looking for people who use IMR 7828SSC I have been shooting it in a .338 RUM and a 7 STW. The velocity and accuracy have been impressive. Don't know about temperature sensitivity as these are hunting rifles mainly shot in cooler temps. The times I have chronographed loads it has been...
