    6.5 grendel

Re: 6.5 grendel Don't get me wrong: I'm a Grendel fan. In the process of a build, right now. But... If you already have a .243, the DTACs are going to give you better range (albeit, not quite the hit) of the Grendel. Unless you are just looking for bigger womp in a smaller package than the...

7mm RSAUM vs 7mm WSM? I need help!!

Re: 7mm RSAUM vs 7mm WSM? I need help!! Most of its been said, little better case design w/ the Remmy; better w/ long bullets. A little more womp with the WSM. Performance in the SAUM is identical to .280 Improved and the WSM is the same as the 7Rem. Mag. I'd actually prefer the 7Mag over...

Fieldcraft Anyone preparing for a diaster such as 2012?

Re: Anyone preparing for a diaster such as 2012? ABSOLUTELY! I plan to stock up on guns, ammo, reloading supplies and gold, just in case the democrats get ellected!

    Remington TI ?

Re: Remington TI ? My hunting rig is a Ti. I rebedded the stock. Pulled the buggy-whip barrel and replaced it with a $50 standard weight 24" SS take-off from a XCR. Fire lapped it with tubb bullets. Put a 2.5x8 Leupy on it. It shoots 3/4 MOA, consistently, and weighs 7# even w/ scope...

    Best long distance rifle?

Re: Best long distance rifle? 7mm Rem. Mag. I know that they have their detractors, but there's a reason it's the most popular magnum cartridge of all time: Reasonable recoil even in mid-weight rifle (don't need a break, just a good recoil pad). Excellent accuracy. Game-killing ability up...

Remington 700 SPS Tactical Vs. Savage 10 PC

Re: Remington 700 SPS Tactical Vs. Savage 10 PC Roseberry summed it up pretty well. I'm a Remmy guy. I've had about 8 or 9 of them. They all shot well (sub MOA), but the wood stocked guns ended up being swapped for glass (Brown & HiTech). The tupperware stock versions (SPS) all required...

    Grendel website?

I know we have some Grendel shooters on this site. I'm about to start a build and I'm always surfing for info. Now the 6.5 website seems to have... disappeared? Does anyone know about this? Thanks.

    copper fouling

Re: copper fouling You might also consider that if this is a factory barrel, the bore finish leaves much to be desired. A few years ago I started using Tubbs fire-lapping system on my barrels. Some, it has actually improved the accuracy, but mostly they shoot well longer and clean up much...

    Barrett 98B .338 Lapua help

Re: Barrett 98B .338 Lapua help Humbodlt, Many good suggestions. It would be worth the time and money to go and shoot (learn) with someone who is used to shooting 1000 yards. They can teach you invaluable lessons about reading wind, mirage, tracking the bullet, etc. You also really need...

300 yd and in ar-15 load

Re: 300 yd and in ar-15 load +1 on the 69gr. SMK. There's probably no more accurate bullet on the market than the SMKs.

    30-06 loads/powders

Re: 30-06 loads/powders wfj, It may be too late to change, but I wouldn't hunt anything larger than a deer with NBTs, and even then, they'd bee pretty far down the list of preferences. I've used them for sheep in BC, Canada (7Mag) and for deer and antelope in CO & CA in a single shot...

    260 remington?

Re: 260 remington? Yes to what's been said which is why many hunters like the smaller bore stuff (long bullets with high SC and BC) unless they need a big bullet shooting things with claws & teeth. You get equal or better performance past 200 yards with less recoil. So... Beyond 200 yards...

Does the 6.8mm SPC have a future?

Re: Does the 6.8mm SPC have a future? If you are looking for more than the 5.56, the 6.8 is ahead of anything else popularity-wise in the AR15 format. The next closest competitor is probably the 6.5 Grendel, but they have been finiky about mags and the military won't look at them because they...

    remington 700 .308 to .260 ?

Re: remington 700 .308 to .260 ? No problems here other than brass quality is not as good (without some work). I'm sure I don't need to say it, but take the time to have the action trued, replace the lug, etc. Your appreciate it in the end. I really enjoy my .260.

Gunsmithing savage 10 FCP HS Precision

Re: savage 10 FCP HS Precision My savage has a custom (LW) barrel, so I can't speak to rough barrel issues on the savage, but I bought a TC Encore barrel from a guy that said it shot well when new, but no more. I used CR10 for about an hour and it was badly copper fouled. Used Tubbs fire...

    Remington 700 5R SS Milspec

Re: Remington 700 5R SS Milspec the savage 10 with the McM stock (not sure of the exact model)is about in the same price catagory and while not as strong, not as smooth, not as pretty as the Remmy (and I am a Remmy fan) I'd bet money the Savage will outshoot the Remington.

    Savage 10FP .223

Re: Savage 10FP .223 The the tactical B&C medalist, a shilen or LW pre-chambered barrel, SSS recoil lug, will turn this into a consistent under .5 MOA gun with out a lot of expense. I did this to mine and the only time it shot over that was a .6 10 shot group. 5 shot groups run in the .3s.

    What barrel for Savage action?(.260)

Re: What arbarrel for Savage action?(.260) You might also consider the SS Lothar Walther. I have one on my savage and the only time it shot over .5 MOA was with a 10 shot group. They are pre-chambered and easily installed with a SSS lug and a nut-wrench. Cost is $308 + shipping. Smiths...

    Long range AR

Re: Long range AR Unless, you plan to hunt big game, 6mmAR or 6.5 Grendal. Both beat any of the .223 loads in a smaller package than the AR-10s. If you're going to hunt, go with the AR-10s - 6.5 CM, .260 (although match bullets must be seated quite deep) or .308 (tried and true).
