Some help on 178gr A-Max load

Re: Some help on 178gr A-Max load I would add a pic of the ladder test, but I'm not sure how. Example of technology kicking my ass. The dispersion past the node seems to be very even up to 43.5gr. The last three are at POA or higher, suggesting that this is closer to the velocity that I...

    Suppressors Preventing baffle strikes

Need a little help. Does anyone have a good method for checking a suppressor for proper alignment before sending rounds through it. Can I do this myself or should I have a gunsmith check it out first? Just ordered my first can and want to get a head start on this issue.

    What's with HORNADY?

Re: What's with HORNADY? Seems to be an ongoing problem with Hornady. Waited six months last year for 223 60gr V-Max. I was told that they don't make their bullets continuously, they make a run and then shut down the machines for a while. Don't know if it is true or not, just what I was...

    .223 vs 5.56 brass

Re: .223 vs 5.56 brass 5.56 brass is typically thicker which will reduce internal case capacity. Loads that are safe in commercial .223 brass may not be safe in 5.56. 5.56 also does not last as many reloads, but is cheaper to begin with. I use both, but separate by headstamp and have...

Acceptable tolerances in C.O.A.L. for .308

Re: Acceptable tolerances in C.O.A.L. for .308 I recomend getting a bullet comparator and a Hornady O.A.L. gauge. This will tell you where the bullet ogive is contacting the rifling on your rifle. This gives you the COAL on your rifle. Depending on the leade in your chamber, this may or...

2 + grains over book max?

Re: 2 + grains over book max? I did not mean to offend you armorpl8, but you are either missing my point or I am not explaining it very well. When the writers of whatever book you are using compiles their data, how are they getting it and what exactly is max value? 1) Is max value the...

Big Dog Steel Targets Are Great

Re: Big Dog Steel Targets Are Great These guys are great. I ordered the full size IPSC plate about six months ago. Got it in about 5 days and shot the piss out of it at 850 yards with 308. I plan on buying more targets from them and would recommend them to anyone.

Handload or just shoot 175 FGMM? .308

Re: Handload or just shoot 175 FGMM? .308 I really enjoy loading my own ammo so that is enough reason for me. However, I have found that I can produce a round that shoots better than the FGMM in my rifle. Also I have seen FGMM show signs of excessive pressure in my friend's Mod 700. Makes...
