Build a 223 rig. How would you do it?

Re: Build a 223 rig. How would you do it? Go with a skunkworks action on the group buy. He'll chamber, cut, crown and thread a barrel for you for $200. Then just get a trigger, stock and bottom metal. That's what I'm doin'.

    Range Report Nosler Cust. Comp.

Re: Nosler Cust. Comp. I use the 52 grain Noslers in my .22-250. They shoot great. I switched to them from the 50 grain V-Max which had been my "go to" round in that gun for 6 years

Detachable mag options for .223 Rem

I'm getting a barreled action for a .223 Rem. Had planned on getting a Manners stock with the MCS-DBM mini chassis that takes AI magazines. But near as I can figure, AI doesn't make magazines for .223 Rem. What are the bottom metal/magazine options for .223 Rem on a Remington 700 clone?

    6.5X47 Lapua barrel length

Re: 6.5X47 Lapua barrel length My 6.5X47 has a 22" barrel. My go to load is a 123gr scenar ahead of 37.2gr of Re15. My chronograph says 2,798fps. In my experience, Re15 gives great velocities in that cartridge. I've tried 130gr Berger VLD's w/ 38gr of Ramshot's Big Game and got 2,626fps...

Need an Affordable Bolt Gun... Please Help!

Re: Need an Affordable Bolt Gun... Please Help! Accurcay-wise, it's probably a coin toss betwixt the Savage and Remington. And maybe the Remington 700 is a better action to "customize" in the future. But I'm a big fan of Savage's accutrigger. Haven't...

    Rifle Scopes Barska spotting scope.

Re: Barska spotting scope. Don't know about trace, but I don't know any spotter that will reliably show .308 bullet holes in paper at 600 yards or further.

    Member Link Up Missouri shooters

Re: Missouri shooters Got back from Big Piney a little while ago. This was the first tactical match I'd shot. Shot a couple of their F-class shoots last fall. Had a good time. As with my previous experiences there, a good group of guys. Since I was shooting a .22-250 Rem, it put me in...

Can't find a LH vertical grip stock for Savage

Re: Can't find a LH vertical grip stock for Savage Check out stockade stocks (www.stockadegunstocks.com). He makes fiberglass stocks for savage rifles. I got a left-hand prairie dog/tactical stock from him. The money-saver option will cost you around $200. It's simple enough to fill and...

    Powder Recommendation

Re: Powder Recommendation For a long time my go to load in my .308 Win was a CCI 200 primer and 46.0 grains of varget behind a 150 grain Sierra Gameking. I shoot a 26" barrel. But the .308 is not a picky cartridge. Lots of powder will work well in it.

    Rifle Scopes Horus Vision scopes

Re: Horus Vision scopes SIG383, while I've never used Horus scopes, others are right in that the question has been covered many times before. To summarize: if you really like the reticle, try and get it in a better scope. That said, there are some hiders who chime in that they have a horus...

Rifle Scopes AR mount & proper eye relief

Got a flat top AR last fall and ordered some low Burris Extreme Tactical rings for my 2.5-8X36mm scope. The objective bell wouldn't clear the handguard with the low rings, so I ordered mediums. Mounted the scope as far forward as I could, but still couldn't get a complete sight picture...

Missouri BIG PINEY Multi Range F Class 16 May

Re: Missouri BIG PINEY Multi Range F Class 16 May The weather hasn't been very kind to your F-class and tactical shoots this spring has it? I shot a couple times last fall. I'd like to come down again sometime but was leery of driving about 270 miles round trip to lay in the mud and get...

    Ruger Barrels

Re: Ruger Barrels I only have experience w/ one ruger: a 2006 M77 Mark II laminate stainless chambered in .25-06 Rem. The laminated stock gives it some heft, but I kind of like it that way. If I do my part it will consistently put a few shots inside 1.5" at 100 yards. It's not my most...
