Some stores are just good places to shop.

Out here in the Northwest, there's a club chain of 'a little bit of everything' stores called Bi Mart. They generally have better prices than Walmart and I find their selection to be satisfactory for most of my needs. During this craziness, their sporting goods section has always looked like...

    338 Laupa

CCI 250 Federal LRM Federal LRM Match Remington 9½ They all work. I don't shoot the 338 at anything less than 300 yards. I cannot tell if there's a difference between one primer or another at that distance.

    338 Laupa

Powder choice depends on your barrel length. The 700's that I've looked up have a 24" barrel w/o muzzle brake. What's the length? I ask because at 26" with Retumbo or N570 and a "full" powder charge, my muzzle flash is much higher than RL22, indicating unburned powder to me. Mine really likes...

Dont touch primers: Truth or Fiction

Clean hands, don't touch them any more than you have to. Years ago I had primers not fire but I suspect that's more from when I used to use silicone spray as a lube, some still in the primer hole when I load the case.

Why do my pistol reloads look like this?

Do they look like that before dropping the bullet in? You coud try loading some on my setup to see if you get the same thing out of lee dies. PM me if you want to try. K.I.S.S.

    Reloading Start up

Kits are a good way to start, but if SIL has time, try Craig's List and gunboards to get reloading setups. A guy here in Oregon just let a RL650 go for $500, plus had all the extras for very reasonable prices. That or lose some of yours to him and restock your tool cabinet with what catches...

Web crawler keeps almost real-time tab on loaded ammo

Repost from NWFA . Very useful site. Would be even more awesome with powder and primers. GunBot find ammo in stock

Thoughts on hornady interlock for hunting

Interlocks also have a cannelure. I have never seated mine where the cannelure is underneath the brass, and in calibers > .223 I do not crimp.

Thoughts on hornady interlock for hunting

I just loaded 25 for my 338, along with 25 Nosler Partitions too. Found them both to be very consistent, unlike the Sierra Game Kings I loaded, which had lead tips so soft I could deform them with my thumb. I'm sure any of them will perform well hunting, will be interesting to see their...

Cci 200 primers? What do you all think?

That is what I call a "race winning gift horse" Used up all my CCI LR primers, my goto brand.

Bare Bones equipment needed to load for precision rifle.

Asked and answered at least a dozen times in the last 8 months. If the search engine here is still broken, try google. Here are two from the search: http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/snipers-hide-reloading/200221-deciding-reloading-equipment.html Recommended Reloading Equipment - Long...

    Varget recipe for .308

Did you mean to say "It's NOW sitting in a XLR..." ?? Where's your common sense, man! He gave you OAL and in my experience this can change +/- 0.005" with the SMKs I use. Measure your chamber, then do your loading using base to ogive measurements. Then work up your Varget amount to 44+...

Powder degradation and limited ammo lifespan

I'm loading with some H870 that's >40 years old, and some VV date coded 1995, and both produce repeatable results.
  15. P7id10t

    Finally found Varget, ouch...

Found it here at Fisherman's in Portland for $26.99

Illinois to Sturgis, SD Any big reloading shops along the way?

Thanks for posting the link. Probably the best selection of VV powders that I have seen.

    AR10 loads

IIRC, at ~45gr, you'll find RL15 or RL17 are compressed.

    breaking decapping pins

Make sure the case is PROPERLY seated in the shell holder, then smoothly cam the ram up. If you do it right, you will feel exactly when your pin hits the flash hole (or not). Finesse it, don't crank it.

    Die Polishing

Send it back to the manufacturer with a case that it resized. Ask for a replacement. You shouldn't have to pay for something that doesn't work right.
