    Brand New Brass Prep

This relates to .260 Remington, 26" barrel, 1:8.3" twist. My next load with be with 139 Scenar's and IMR 4451 (you get what you get these days). I need 300 rounds for a class and I now have a range reloading setup to build up a load as best I can. My rifle shoots 1/2MOA with my old reloads...

Gunsmithing 300 PRC - Is the Ultra Mag Action Preferred?

10-4! Makes sense. This is intended to be a DM build. Thanks!!

Gunsmithing 300 PRC - Is the Ultra Mag Action Preferred?

Ah, you’ve done both! Care to share some insight to your preference? Is it just a feed difference? Also, I’m acronym challenged - “DM” = Detachable Magazine? Box fed = Standard Remington ADL/BDL (I know, more acronyms)? If I’m correct on the terminology, with the magazine feed, do the...

Gunsmithing 300 PRC - Is the Ultra Mag Action Preferred?

You are right, with all the gunsmithing the cost is pretty close to the $8-900 mark. I’ll check those actions you recommend. Looking to see part compatibility for bottom metal, trigger, etc... Thank you for the great info and taking the time to respond! Dom

Gunsmithing 300 PRC - Is the Ultra Mag Action Preferred?

Wanting to build a 300PRC with a Remington action. (If you have a different action you would recommend that is under $1k, please feel free) The Remington part number "767-000-870WB" is a standard .534" face Long Action (300 Win Mag). The other part number is "767-000-956WB" and that is the...

    270WSM and Retumbo

I loaded 70gr and over pressure were the result. I thought I screwed up the load, but It was per the Sierra manual for 140gr. Does anyone have a load so I can use this retumbo? Even the minimum load from the manual is compressed. Should I just dump It and load something else?

    Gunsmithing Bandsaw?

Why did my barrel come in and say to bandsaw the end of the barrel and not use a cut-off tool? What possible difference could it make if one used a cutoff tool or a bandsaw?

    Gunsmithing 6.5mm barrel help

Re: 6.5mm barrel help Paul, No myth born here because I don't have an accuracy knock towards button rifled barrels. I simply would not know any better. The Shilen, in particular, on their standard barrels, the tolerances are 3x or more than their select match. I'm sure 75% or better...

    Gunsmithing 6.5mm barrel help

Re: 6.5mm barrel help Thanks guys. big help, as always. Sounds like up to 140gr, the 8.5 is fine, but I'm still going to look for an 8. Host, you backed up what I was feeling anyway. The select match, to me, isn't worth getting over a nice cut rifled or 5r barrel if I can find it in...

    Gunsmithing 6.5mm barrel help

Rebarreling to a .260. Do I want 8 or 8.5 twist to shoot the heavier bullets? I'm looking for a straight taper (#7 or i think Kreiger calls it a #17). I would like to find a barrel in-stock, so I was looking at the Shilen's on midway, but is it a mistake not to wait for a Kreiger 5R of some...

    Rifle Scopes NXS -removed Turret...oops!

Re: NXS -removed Turret...oops! I consulted a nice fellow at the range and he said to just tighten the set screw more. I did and was able to shoot the remainder of the day. No issue. Turned into a great day shooting. I did NOT loosen anything under the cap. When you pull the turret off...

    Rifle Scopes NXS -removed Turret...oops!

So I went to zero my NXS elevation turret for the first time and pulled it all the way off. Has anyone done this? Is there a pin that goes in it that I am now missing?
