    SH recommended gunsmiths

Don't have the post count and experience that a lot of others have, but Jim and Bob at Predator Custom Shop in Knoxville, TN (865) 521-0625 have done GREAT work for me on several rifles.

    F class/matches

Sorefoot, there are several F-class matches per year in Oak Ridge at ORSA (Oak Ridge Sportsman's Association). You park very close to where you shoot, so walking is minimal. If the matches in Virginia are a bit too far, Oak Ridge is a lot closer. How are you with standing up and sitting down...

    Varget shooters

Probably doesn't help you since I shoot the 175 SMK rather than the 168, but my load is 44.5 grains set to about 2.820".

    H4895 for a 308

Be careful...there are 2 "4895's"...IMR 4895 and H4895. They are both owned by the same parent company, but they are slightly different powders and are not interchangeable. It's my understanding that IMR 4895 is good for .308 also, but I have no experience with it.

    H4895 for a 308

It's my "go to" powder for my 18.5" Criterion barreled LR308. With 175 SMK, I'm getting 2570 FPS at the muzzle and it's stupid accurate...easily and consistently between 1 and .5 MOA 5-shot groups. It's a great powder for .308. My brother's custom bolt action with a Krieger 24" barrel likes...

    .308 w/ IMR 4064 and 175 SMK

My load was 42.4 grains loaded to approximately 2.285" and it was accurate at 100 yards with a 24" barrel. When I chorono'd it, the extreme spread was nearly 100 FPS. It was early in my handloading, so my experience was low and I may have been doing something to affect it and not know it, but...

For a Precision Rifle, how important is it to...

Chrono is the next order of business. I just couldn't wait to get it to the range and since I had the opportunity, I jumped on it. With a better quality barrel, I expect my results on spread to be excellent as the results on the factory barrel were good enough for me to decide on the powder...

For a Precision Rifle, how important is it to...

Yep, I'm handloading. Surprised that the accuracy load for the original factory barrel produced a .25 MOA 3-shot group in the new barrel. I know...3 shots vs. 5 shots, but I was still tickled to find it so accurate with a load for a completely different barrel. I also understand you're...

    Suppressors Suppressed Armament Systems suppressors?

I own an Arbiter and have a Reaper on the way, both Ti. I bought the Arbiter strictly on reputation and valued opinions of people I respect and price (before they increased). I've had a great experience using the Arbiter, but it is the only experience with a suppressor I have. I've never...

For a Precision Rifle, how important is it to...

Thanks for the responses. I'm working towards 600 yard and 1000 yard "F" class competitions. Now that my equipment is where I want it, it's time to start working on skills. From now on, there are no excuses. If I miss, it's a lack of skill on the operator's part...without question. I don't...

For a Precision Rifle, how important is it to...

I'm finally in a place where I have NO questions about my equipment. I'm just getting started in the long range/precision game and I just re-barreled my Savage 10 FP with a Rock Creek M24 contour barrel. I put 20 rounds through it today and OH MY GOSH, I have NEVER seen accuracy like this from...

    Suppressors Form 4 wait time

Not necessarily. I sent a check to them in mid-February and it didn't clear the bank for almost 6 weeks. You'd think they would be eager for the money, but it seems they are using this check cashing as an extra "waiting period".

Suppressors Titanium suppressor. Which one to get

I'd like a comparison as well...and throw in the Reaper for fun too. I know since it's a shorter can it will not only sound different, but probably suppress less, but I'd still like to hear it. Edit: Upon closer reading I was getting Kino and Kys' usernames mixed up and who owned what. I'd...

    Custom Action and Trigger compatibility?

Re: Custom Action and Trigger compatibility? Thanks for the info Mike. Just the type of info I was looking for. I tried finding the 510U that you referred to, but couldn't. I have the standard 510, but couldn't find the 510U. Is the "U" a typo, or a different trigger designation that is...

    Custom Action and Trigger compatibility?

I'm doing a build for my son and I've chosen the Defiance Rebel action for the rifle with a Krieger barrel and it will be chambered in 7mm-08. I've bought this action previously for a build for my brother and he used a Jewell trigger which works perfectly. When I bought the first action, I...

Looking for a POF 6.8 spc

Re: Looking for a POF 6.8 spc Depends on what kind of hunting you plan on doing. If you're going to do a lot of stalking and be able to get within 300 yards, an AR chambered in 6.8 SPC with a 16-18 inch barrel would be fantastic. From the 16" barrel, the 95 grain Barnes TTSX bullet can be...

    Roll-over prone friendly comp/break?

Re: Roll-over prone friendly comp/break? Doesn't that JP brake put you into "open" class? If I'm not mistaken, the brake/compensator cannot be longer than 3 inches or wider than 1 inch to remain in "tactical" class. The Titan is FANTASTIC at taming muzzle rise and recoil, but noisy as...
