Re: do u like burris zee rings? My first choice for rings whenever possible. My rifles do not see hard use ( hunting or heavy duty tactical competitions ). Also I don't shoot big hard kickers so I can't comment on that facet of long term durability. But I find they work for me. Absolutely...

Gunsmithing Best torque wrench on a budget!

Re: Best torque wrench on a budget! You may want to consider the "Precision Instruments" torque driver. It is a dial type direct readout torque wrench with a scale from 0 to 75 in./lbs. in 1 in./lbs. increments. It is not cheap. Runs about $200.00 . I purchased mine from Sears (most...

Gunsmithing Is it ok to leave Kroil oil in the rifle's bore?

Re: Is it ok to leave Kroil oil in the rifle's bore? It's perfectly fine to leave Kroil oil in the barrel bore. But do not count on it to provide rust protection. It is a light, penetrating oil that will run easily. So if you store your firearm in any position which will allow the oil to...

Thread size on hornady OAL gauge

Re: Thread size on hornady OAL gauge Suasponte is aboslutely correct. Use a 9/32 or letter "K" size drill. Try working your way up. Start with a smaller drill size first, then go to your finish drill. Brass has a tendency to grab so be careful. Use lube. I don't have a lathe so I insert the...

    Which calipers you like?

Re: Which calipers you like? I have and use Harbor Freight digital calipers. Buy them on sale. For the money they are a good deal. For light to moderate use they should suffice. For most precision measurments they will be close enough. For really dead on measuring you should use a mike.
