Stepping Up To the Plate UPDATE for 9-14 NEW PICS

Re: Stepping Up To the Plate UPDATE for 9-14 NEW PICS Mike, what is the "Black Ops Ranch Rifle Stock"? I can't seem to find any information on it. Are you sourcing it, or producing it in house? Feel free to PM me. I am interested in the Ranch Rifle concept...reminds me of a Kukri...just...

    Hunting & Fishing Insurance shot?

Re: Insurance shot? I agree with previous responses. It all depends on the game being taken. Deer - No need, they are not dangerous. Pigs - Yes, but only when required to stop the squealing I think I recall myself saying out loud a few times "Shut up" *bang*

    Hunting & Fishing BACON!!

Re: BACON!! Thanks for the kind words, folks. These guys can hook you up with the Snipers Hide gear: http://linestretch.com/store/page2.html Great people, and high quality shirts - These are the two reasons I buy them. We almost got caught with our pants down. After killing this one, we...

    Hunting & Fishing Bacon Lite

Re: Bacon Lite That was another great shot of the weekend! This one was moving at a quick pace angled slightly away. Samurai put that scenar through the vitals...went clean through and I had thought he missed due to the report from the scenar hitting the dirt behind piglet. Pig did a quick...

    Hunting & Fishing BACON!!

Yesterday was a wild success. Father and I saw this big boy come out about 550 yds away right at dusk. We quickly covered 100 yds, deployed the bipod, set up on a road that crosses the highline / right-of-way, turned on the lit reticle since the dark was creeping in and I couldn't see the...

Fieldcraft creatures encountered on a stalk

Re: creatures encountered on a stalk We used to hunt some land in SW Arkansas...right off the Saline river. Every now and then, we would see an albino (read: White) Turkey hen. She was awesome to see...in the middle of the dark and vast bottom lands...seemed almost ghostly!

    5.56 TSX Loaded Ammo

Re: 5.56 TSX Loaded Ammo I've had great success / accuracy with the CorBon loaded 62grn TSX. Hogs hate them. Deer hate them. I thought Cor-Bon was expensive, but it comes in cheaper than the Black Hills stuff. Cor-Bon advertises lower velocities though...which I thought were supposed to...

    Cutting/threading Izhmash Biathlon Basic 7-2?

Re: Cutting/threading Izhmash Biathlon Basic 7-2? I want to thread mine as well...don't want it cut, but want it threaded. I know a guy on RFC had his threaded by ADCO, and they were able to keep the original factory deep crown in tact. Might give them a shot.

    Age For First Gun?

Re: Age For First Gun? I had a red rider early on...can't remember my age. I was shooting very early with my dad...but I clearly remember my first 22 (a Marlin) that he bought for me for Christmas when I was 9. I also killed my first deer that year, using a friend of the family's .218bee...

    scope for 22lr

Re: scope for 22lr What are you doing with the gun? For hunting / field use...yes. For targets...I dunno, I hunt and use my rifle in the field, but I reckon as long as you have an adjustable aperture, 24x would help you get on the bullseye.

    Opinions on Leupold EFR Rimfire

Re: Opinions on Leupold EFR Rimfire I use these exclusively on my rimfires. Send that thing back and get them to install M-1 knobs for ya....it will help you reach out a bit. As mentioned, not ideal for target...but perfect for field use.

    Which Knife?

Re: Which Knife? I'll throw another plug for Busse / Scrapyard. Alot of Bussekin can be heavy...but there are a few gems for pack-knifes. SS4 is fantastic. 4" blade, sabre grind w/ Res-C mudder grips. They will have a new 4" blade very similar that should be released in the next year...

Bolt Comparison for AR-12 Dedicated 22LR Uppers

Re: Bolt Comparison for AR-12 Dedicated 22LR Uppers Pat, that's a fantastic review. I've been hoping to see something like this for a long time...thank you. If you are starting from scratch...which one would you prefer. Which do you find the most reliable? Accuracy (if tested)? Best, Max

    .308 Tipped TSX Loads

Anyone have experience loading .308 tipped TSX rounds, 168 grn? I'm not a loader, but my dad is starting some loads and using Varget, 42-44.5 grns. It's crunching when the bullet is seated and I'm nervous about it. Is this crunching / compacting of the powder normal? I'm naive about this...
