OCW Test Part Duex :Think I Got It Right This Time

Re: OCW Test Part Duex :Think I Got It Right This Time I would pick 45.2 myself. Remember group size is just about irrelevant when doing OCW. You are looking at point of impact only. To verify I would load up one round each of 44.8, 45.0, 45.2, and 45.4 and shoot for a group. You should...

    Looking for a case trimmer

Re: Looking for a case trimmer I really like my RCBS power trimmer. While a it is way outside of your budget you can get the hand crank version for now and then add the power module at a later date. For me, I love the three way cutter for bulk trimming of 223 and 308WIN. I get VERY...

Re: "Blend" a bench into the living room? LOL Man y'all are alot more inventive than me. Back at the old house I got a shed out back which let me tell you sucked. I got really lucky this time around and got my own room.

    New power case trimmer WFT....

Re: New power case trimmer WFT.... Hmmm, sounds promising. I'm using a RCBS trimmer right now but it can be pretty slow if you want good accuracy with your trim. At the same time, I am trimming a bunch of range brass and taking a bunch of off the longer necks.

Range Report SMK bullets for hunting

Re: SMK bullets for hunting My pet load involves 175 SMK in my 308 WIN. I would love to be able to use them to hunt but I keep seeing such mixed reviews of their performance on game. I think I'll try them on some hogs first just to see how they do.

    Ballistic Programs

Re: Ballistic Programs I am a big fan of bulletflight on my ipod. I put everything in for my 308 with 175 SMKs and shot for the first time at 500 and 600 yards. It was DEAD ON the first try at both ranges. I was very impressed.

need some help picking a good lube

Re: need some help picking a good lube I tried some Hornady one shot and got a stuck case 7 cases in (albeit full length sizing). I tried imperial sizing wax after seeing it recommended so much on here and now I will never use anything else. Just flat out works and works well.

    Low Temp Brass Annealing

Re: Low Temp Brass Annealing That they are. This is only my second time drying them in the oven and both times there is discoloration of the brass (dark colored). I assume this is where the water was when it evaporated off or is this an indication of bad brass? This is all range brass (I...

    Low Temp Brass Annealing

So I tumbled my 223 brass with my SS media and put them in the oven at 170 deg (lowest my oven will go) to dry quickly. Well...one thing led to another and I left them in there for about 5 hours. I know annealing is all about time and temperature but I have no clue how 5 hours at 170 deg will...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns The AK-47 of 1911's

I'm trying to find a 1911 (in 45 ACP of course) that has the reliability of an AK. I don't care about frills and this and that. This will be my primary weapon for home defense and will double as a paper puncher from time to time. Under $600 would be preferable. Any help or thoughts would be...

    Photos A place to shoot.

Re: A place to shoot. I agree, I've met several ranchers across west Texas and have yet to meet a nice one. Most of them are pissed because someone is drilling on their land and they don't have the mineral rights.

    Primer Eating Press

Re: Primer Eating Press Thanks for the tip smokinace. I'm ordering one of those priming pieces for my press to see if that solves the problem. I would much rather just do that than have to pay for a different press, new die holders, not to mention reset all my dies after changing die...

    Reloading bench in Garage

Re: Reloading bench in Garage I have had my bench outside without climate control for the past two years. I would recommend having plenty of oil on hand for storing your dies. I oil mine up about every other time im out there. I didn't do that for a while and found that everything started...

    storing loaded ammo

Re: storing loaded ammo +1 on the MTM 50 round boxes for 308 or anything else for that matter. They have a very sturdy piano type hinge instead of just a solid plastic one. Stack great and makes storage a breeze.
