My 92 year old neighbor said a few good hot Texas summers tends to drive away the pretenders.

The Hamilton Pool corridor was really amazing till they decided to build thousands of homes and cut this place up like Southern California. But you can’t stop progress. I think you made a mistake seeing this place from a car window at 70 MPH but if I was coming to this part of Texas in 2022, I...

Not sold on All Good BBQ. If you want ribs Terry Blacks & Valentina’s have great beef ribs. And they didn’t build the roads to accommodate this growth. The traffic on HPR from all these developments is awful. I smoked a set of rear tires in less than 20k pulling out on HPR. And I saw that new...

Best areas to live in TX

Opie's is average BBQ. I won't even stop there if I go to Mueller Buildings to pick up metal or on my way to the Lake LBJ. If I want BBQ, I go to Valentina's or take a drive to Snow's in Lexington or Louie Mueller's in Taylor. As for moving to Austin, it is too late. Anyone who moves here now...

Movie Theater The superior Dune thread (not Bender's thread for poors and vagrants)

Two of my favorite Muad'Dib quotes. ”The Freman say, 'God created Arakis to train the faithful.' One cannot go against the word of God." "People need hard times to develop psychic muscles."

Movie Theater The superior Dune thread (not Bender's thread for poors and vagrants)

If I remember right from the in the books Jessica made a much bigger deal in preparing Paul for the Gom Jabbar. Seemed more of just a passing scene in the movie.

Movie Theater The superior Dune thread (not Bender's thread for poors and vagrants)

I hate being one of those people appear to be high and mighty about reading the books over the movie, but if you want to get really deep into Dune, read the books. I really liked both movies and though the latest was excellent. But I think I like them because I went full tilt in college and...

    SLR .308 SBR

I have a 12.5" SLR B30 with an SLR adjustable gas block. It was simple to tune and been accurate at night with thermal. I am waiting on a Form 1. I bought the Chimera specific for it and it has been indestructible thus far.

Might Be An East Coast Thing-But Where Did You Find The Best Cheese Steak

Reading this put a smile on my face. It has been a few years but we used to hit Donkey's on our way to drink beers at Connie Mac's in Pennsauken. I used to work in South Philly and Tony Luke's was a regular hop - parking on the median and all. I used lived at 25th and Locust, right on the Schuyk...

Might Be An East Coast Thing-But Where Did You Find The Best Cheese Steak

Tony Lukes Nick's Roast Beef John's Roast Pork Pat's and Geno's are low rent, tourist garbage. And if you like wings and thighs, Cheerleaders on Front.

    The Fix from Q

My Fix has no feed issues and has been a absolute hammer both suppressed and unsuppressed. I was so impressed with the Fix, I bought a honey badger for my truck. And cut bonerstroker some slack - guy has a bad case of Q FOMO. Probably gets hopped up on a Whiteclaws, fires up his AOL account...

Going on a hog hunt in Texas after Christmas, need meat advice

Shoot as many as you can and leave them for the vultures. I have shoot a ton of pigs here in Texas and never even thought about processing them for dog food let alone eating them. They are nasty and dirty. But if I get a big one, I hack its head off for a euro mount. Make sure to wear gloves...

Maggie’s The Welding and Metalworking Thread

Did you replace the liner? I kinked the liner in my 252 and the gas was intermittent when welding - it was giving me fits until I sent a video to a buddy to make sure I wasnt doing anything crazy. Replaced the liner and ran great.

How you like the pulse on the 255? You run 90/10? I have an indestructible 252 and run short arc with 75/25. Anything that I want less splatter I just TIG. Curious how you liking it as I havent had a chance to use one.

    The Fix from Q

After shooting the Halo a few nights I ordered the Bobro mount. Way better position for the Halo - I dont have to crane forward as I had it back as far as possible and was still struggling. Headed back to the range this AM to re-zero. Thanks for the recommendation. They should sell that mount...

    The Fix from Q

I was thinking 155g noslers were going to be the ticket as that is what my bolt action gun really likes. My SR25 eats up the 168/175g SMKs. And to my surprise the 175s were grouping sub MOA at 100 yards. I need to put some padding on cheek riser.

    The Fix from Q

What are rounds are you guys shooting out of .308 16" stainless Fix? Did my little break in sequence yesterday and was shooting 3 round groups with 155g nolsers, 168g SMK and 175g SMK - the 175s grouped the best. Just curious what everyone is shooting.

Maggie’s The Welding and Metalworking Thread

Been thinking about putting a staircase in my barn/office for a long time to access the loft. Finally had an excuse to put my drawings to metal with hunting season coming. I definitely went overkill on the materials. Still have to finish the wall railing and a post at the top of the stairs...
