Gunsmithing 1903 A3 sporter safety mod

Well, I've got it figured out. If anyone needs a safety worked over, please let me know. I'll never admit I worked on it, but my design is simple, functional, and I use the original safety. If anyone has any spare 1903A3 safeties, I'd gladly accept them...

Gunsmithing 1903 A3 sporter safety mod

I got a Navy Arms 1903A3 action, have trued it up, tapped for scope base, and now I'm working on the safety. I have seen a few after market jobs, but no one seems overly impressed with them, besides, it seems that it's impossible to get the long, low-profile safety so popular years ago...

cant make heads or tails of shoulder bumping

Well..... It's not hard to set up any FL die to bump the shoulder. You just got to have some patience, and understand the concept. Me personally, I also use a bushing to size the neck, all while I'm bumping the shoulder. I think Milo has a good "cheap bastard" method to set up your FL die...

    Gopro camera, live?

I am double plus un-smart when it comes to modern day electronics. I see the Gopro camera, and I wonder if anybody's skinned the cat with this device, and used it for real-time spotting of shots on target?? If so, how? What would you figure it would cost in total? I'm betting this might be...

    Gunsmithing hard to clean barrel

Mix you up some Ed's Red. Find the recipe by googling it. This stuff works! And it'll cost about $20 for a whole gallon. I've been working off the same gallon for at least 8 years.

    'Best' Iron Sights Shooter

Fair enough all, but you've got to take into account the ergonomics of the stock as well. Sights alone do not a rifle make.

To Lasik, or not to Lasik....

Every iron-sight shooter I know, who has had lasik, has gone on to be unable to "see" well, through the sights. We're not talking scope shooters here, but Iron sights. If any of you have had before/after experiences in this specific regard of Iron sights, please let me know? Granted, I'm an...

What is this bulge at the neck?

Ultra, Ok, chill. You're doing fine. A collet crimper will leave those marks, and they are permanent, unless you physically trim them off. Small

What is this bulge at the neck?

Judging by both your first and second set of pictures, I'm not sure I understand your problem now. Where exactly is this bulge you speak of? Your measurements are good. No problem with them. Are you talking about the crimp marks at the peak of the neck?

What is this bulge at the neck?

ANSI drawings for the .223 REM chamber show the front of the neck CHAMBER dimension at .254" minimum. So, your .255 number on your fired case is very reasonable. However, I do ask you to share your CASE dimension at the BASE of the neck, on a fired round. By my calibrated eyeball, it seems to...

What is this bulge at the neck?

Next question: Where'd you get the rifle? Do you know who chambered it? Factory gun, or custom? Next, do you know what cerrosafe is?

What is this bulge at the neck?

Likely, the top portion of your brass, at the neck, is obdurating out against the chamber wall, while the bottom portion of the neck is not. You are shooting a mild load (by indication of your numbers). As you increase pressure, I'll bet my paycheck that you'll see this bulge go away. Just...

    Advice on correcting a flinch

In addition to BOTH plugs and muffs, you're going to need to unlearn the flinch. That means dry-firing, and a lot of it. Don't do it for a single half hour, but rather 5 minutes each day, for many days. Next, part of your flinch may come from BOTH your body's response from the noise, the...

    Prone- Slung and Biopod

OK folks, we're about to kick this thing off. I've got an Armageddon sling coming in by mail, and I've got several 1907 slings. I'm looking for suggestions from the members, but here's how I'd like to start: RGeyer and I will set up in all the orthodox positions. We'll take pictures of each...
