    Polishing dies?

A suitable sized bore mop impregnated with Flitz in a drill. Works well. Flitz will not change the dimensions nearly enough to be measurable, let alone affect function.

Finding an AR's headspace without gauges

Can a once fired piece of brass from an AR be considered a good depiction of what the chamber's dimension's look like? I'm used to working with a M1A, where you need to shut off the gas system to reliably trust your brass's measurements. I have been using a headspace gauge to set my sizing up...

Savage now and then AKA why people hate Savage

I was just recently told that years ago Remington "borrowed" many of it's main features from Savage for their 700 at the time. So if true, they are actually like cousins!

Hand Loading for Precision Rifle (Pic Heavy)

Thats a great idea. I was thinking of buying a .222" reamer to cut down the doughnut when it appears on my .223 loads.

    Giraud annealing machine observations

Just curious, has anyone tried Mapp gas in place of Propane to speed up the heating? If so, did it work well?

Hand Loading for Precision Rifle (Pic Heavy)

Remember that you must readjust the die to touch the top of the new shellholder when changing between say +.004 and +.006. The thickness on the top of the shellholder varies, not under the cartridge. Just changing the shellholder will not change the headspace sizing.

    Berger's 308 168Hybrids good for 1K yds?

I just bought a box to try in my 5R and M1A, and was wondering if these bullets will perform at 1000 yds as well or better than a 175SMK. I'm planning on pushing them to 2600 in my M1A and about 2700 in my 5R. I never shot at 1000, (600 max so far), but I would like to work up a load that will...

Gunsmith recommendations for pre-64 M70 work

I'm looking to rebarrel and restock an old Win pre-64 M70 in 30-06. I'm looking to either bed the stock or fit a new stock, and rebarrel to 6.5-06. Could you guys recommend any good smiths to do the work? Thanks-

    Good LR /low recoiling cartridge?

I like the thought of a comp on my 308, but it's all set up and shooting great. I kinda cringe thinking of disassembling the rifle to get the barrel threaded. I guess thats the price of progress!

    Good LR /low recoiling cartridge?

I reload, (in fact I enjoy it as much as shooting!), and barrel life is not a big concern for me. In fact, I was thinking of buying my first Savage, so I can change out a shot out barrel myself. Strictly looking at BC's, I notice 6.5 and 7mm caliber seem to have all the smaller calibers beat...
