Best For Concentricity.......Turning or Reaming Necks??

Bullet concentricity before it is chambered is dictated by the die that installs the projectile. The necks are turned to keep the bullet concentric to the bore and to insure friction is consistant 360 deg around the bullet. Neck reaming will make a perfect diameter in the neck but so does...

    BERGER 175 TARGET VLD's

I don't know about the VLD's, but after 6 months I received my back-order of Berger 175 OTM from Brownell's. Still cannot find them on a shelf anywhere.

    Remington 308 build (a few question(s))

I'm currently working with a Remington 700 Varmint that I've had for 25 years. My first big change was to a Manners stockt (T-6). It has an adjustable cheek which is great because I am using the same Ultra scope I've had for 25 years. The stock has the Mini-chassis which works great, I dropped...

Is Uncle Sam buying up all the 22lr ammo??

The price of Rimfire has stabilized and is beginning to drop. The asshats who have been at Walmart every morning at 0400 hoarding it are beginning to realize their investment is diminishing, so now they are coming out to dump it while they can. And the people who legitimately bought enough for a...

what would you do if you found out you had cancer?

I watched both of my parents succumb to cancer. I felt at the the time, that if it happened to me I would take the long walk into the woods. That was before I had children of my own. Now my priorities have changed. Perhaps the greatest lesson my Mother taught me, was how to live, and die, with...

    .22lr match ammo???

Consider getting a Rim thickness gauge. Once you find the bullet weight and velocity your weapon likes, the greatest part of the expense of Match Grade ammo is its consistency. Rimfire headspace is determined by the thickness of the rim. I have found that if I take the time to grade the ammo by...

Wow, I answered "Yes" to about 2/3 of these. But I can add one more; "If you would rather be caught by your wife having an affair than buying another gun....."

OCW and loading to mag length

I just completed this step yesterday in the OCW process. Newberry suggests modifying OAL by .010" increments once the OCW is determined. This is essentially fine tuning the pressure/velocity. I made 6 sets of loads with the bullet seated at original length, 1 set + .010", and 4 sets...

RCBS competition die set for .308

I've used these dies for years. You may be better served to get just the Competition Seater die. I don't use the Full Length Sizer and bought a Neck Sizer instead. An alternative would be Forster micrometer seater and collet neck sizer dies.

    Building a pair for varmints

Hello everyone. I'm new here and I'd appreciate your opinion. I am beginning to collect the pieces to build 2 varmint rifles for me and my son. They will be .223Wylde with heavy 1:7 barrels for bench shooting. I'm looking at stripped upper receivers and I'd like a heavier receiver. I noticed...
