    Lapua Brand Brass. Worth it?

Re: Lapua Brand Brass. Worth it? Go out and buy Redding or other fancy die sets, fancy presses, fancy priming tools, fancy scales, case blueprinting equipment, or whatever other fancy crap you can think of and show me the money....As in real world improvements in what you gained in accuracy...

    Hart, Kreiger or Bartlein?

Re: Hart, Kreiger or Bartlein? That warehouse thing should have been better documented...IDK... For a while everybody figured Shilen was the barrel to have until the secret came out....Tony was shooting over 30,000 rounds a year....And they say benchrest shooting is easy Tony...there is...

    Bullet concentricity and the AR

Re: Bullet concentricity and the AR ER...That would be incorrect. Spin some match grade factory ammo and you will see what I mean. I have some 800grain 50 cal bullets that have almost as much as 0.004 runout IN THE BULLET with a 0.001 wobble in the middle...The loaded rounds were running up...

    What do you think?

Re: What do you think? Are you tuning for OCW? If so the data is a bit soft (imprecise). Sort of looks like it likes 44.0-44.2, but overall the gun likes the powder. If you are tuning the load back up a bit....200yds good 300 better if the wind is quiet.

MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input

Re: MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input The weight ratings are for camera guys. The ratings give some assurance that if you are below a specified weight your $10k worth of Nikon junk wont unexpectedly tip over and smash on the rocks...A bad thing that happens fairly often in the...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Pistol for Grizzly Bear Country

Re: Pistol for Grizzly Bear Country Miles2go, Because 458 is better than 308. 450grains is better than 168. Because 7 pounds carries easier than 12 pounds. The guide gun handles like a champ...The M-14 not so much. You could carry a SOCOM, but why would you?

    Handloading for Distance versus Precision

Re: Handloading for Distance versus Precision All the above posts are good information. I too agree with bedding the V-Block stock..Every one of mine shot much better after doing so. Standard reloading dies and equipment will get the job done. Spend your money on bullets.

    Accuracy International "Cold Bore Shot"

Re: Accuracy International "Cold Bore Shot" Barrel or bedding....And I suspect the bedding. That is a pretty significant POI shift! Contrary to popular belief the Remington 700 is not ground round. Rather (from what I understand) it is hand belted to finial finish..In the process it gets...

    This neck sizer gtg?

Re: This neck sizer gtg? Brass fails in two places. 1) The neck. Splits here can only be resolved by annealing. Once your brass start to split it is time for new brass or is time to learn how to anneal. 2)Loose primer pockets. High pressure causes this. Modest pressure loads will go 10...

How many cycles on your .308 Lapua Brass

Re: How many cycles on your .308 Lapua Brass Keep the load mild and anneal the necks regularly (before the necks start to split) and Lapua brass will live pretty much forever. That said, I run a modestly powered high production gopher load for my 223 bolt rifle and I pitched my Winchester...

    Shoulder bump question.

Re: Shoulder bump question. I was thinking about this today and was considering that we take a vertical force (from the press) and transfer that to a horizontal force (via die taper) to the neck and case body. The biggest power consumption is moving the shoulder back and this takes place int...
