Ok, I am getting ready to order a chargemaster and want to add in something else to put me over $300 so I get the RCBS rebate.

I only full length resize now and want to start neck sizing to extend my brass life. Is this die gtg? I know Redding and Forster would be better but I need to order RCBS. http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=RC15502

Thanks,

Re: This neck sizer gtg?

Brass fails in two places.
1) The neck. Splits here can only be resolved by annealing. Once your brass start to split it is time for new brass or is time to learn how to anneal.
2)Loose primer pockets. High pressure causes this. Modest pressure loads will go 10 firings before coming loose. Higher pressure less..maybe 5. Less than that and your load it too hot.

Brass will not last longer if you set a full length die properly. A couple thou bump hurts nothing and may in fact contribute to accuracy in a factory action.
If the brass cracks at the case web you have your die set up wrong...period.

Good advice offered, some slightly contradictory, and involves personal preference, something we all do.

Me, I will never know how good Lee dies are, but I do have an opinion about motivation for using neck sizing to "extend case life". I also have an opinion about turning necks and why it should be done; or if it should be done. These are subjects that are debatable, so be well informed before deciding on solutions to non problems.
