    @Chalkeye .. exactly.. to grab quick velocity data its fine for that purpose.. however.. there are many different uses in precision shooting for a chronograph ... and for many of them ..a MS just is not the right or easiest tool in the bag. load development.. no-go.. groups data is not...

    @LA260 won't matter.. mounting it to the rail or stock.. the bullet passing over the bayonet will throw it .. it seems for almost everyone it throws away from the bayonet .. mount it at 6oclock the group goes up several inches.. turn it over mount it on the top ... group goes low same 3" ...

    300wm, 220gr matchkings, RL25, and no where to start.....

    R26 is the cats ass in mag shells and 6.5-284... I was getting 3100 with 140's and no pressure signs at all in my 6.5norma .. other guys are going even higher.... good temp stability but 26 is for velocity and the R23 that came out about the same time is VERY temp stable... slightly less...

    @wigwamitus once you have an actual confirmed zero and you know your POI shift with it on.. you can.. at least in my case .. strap it on and still ring steel with it.. I won't shoot for groups with it on... you must mount in perfectly level and in the same spot every time.. if its rocked to 7...

    you can not only not zero with it on.. you can't load develop either.. its a one trick pony.. velocity. to really stir the hornets nest.. some f class folks I shoot with say that cranking that strap tight next to the muzzle will constrict and deform it.. effecting ES and potentially long term...

    @Mr.BR the muzzle blast in the second frame would be going under the bullet between the bullet and the MS .. and depending on caliber and powder choice the dump pressure and muzzle blast could be even bigger.. and that WILL effect things.. dramatically .. and your pics are with a brake on...

    I think also its a bit caliber/velocity dependent I have a MS sport that I use on a .308 5.56 and 6.5-284 norma rifles.. the .308 is a schneider modified m40 taper 24" .925 at the muzzle heavy barrel, the 6.5-284 is a CBI remage and the 5.56 is a 18" odin match barrel on a match AR shooting...
