    223 vs 224 Valkyrie 18” barrel

I get on average 2904 fps out of my AR15 Valkyrie with a 20" barrel using the Berger 80.5's. Accuracy is quite good. If you go with a bolt gun and a longer barrel, it should prove to be a really nice varmit rig IMHO.

Reminder that my number is out of a AR15 224 Valkyrie not 556/223. Pushed to the absolute max with 27.0 gr of CFE223, I'm getting 2904 fps on average.

    International Harvester M1 Garand

Like Frank Green, I also have an unmolested original. I used this article to confirm: https://www.americanrifleman.org/content/the-international-harvester-m1-garand-a-new-rifle-for-the-nuclear-age/ I've seen originals go for $3k plus on GunBroker. Insane!

    WC857 Powder for 7mm Rem Mag ... Yup, I'm *that guy* ?

I think the last of it was available when I puchased a bunch through GI Brass (Jeff Bartlett) about two years ago. Long since gone and not comming back far as I'm aware. Too bad. I use it all the time for heavys in my custom 7mm Rem Mag.

    6.5 grendel accuracy issue

The 129 ABLR is my second favorite bullet for all the reason you mentioned. It cuts through the air pretty well for long distance. My son and I were shooting them at 642 yards a few weeks ago. 5.5 mils to get there. Taking them out to 1K+ in a few weeks to see how they do and to put a...

    6.5 grendel accuracy issue

Yep. The Nosler 100gr BT is probably my all-time favorite, but just too expensive to shoot if you can even find them.

    Bipod choices?

Wander was the wrong word. Because it pans, the legs can end up out of parallel with your shoulders when loading it up or on slippery surfaces. I'm conscious of it and check the alignment periodically when shooting. I suppose you can tension it up more to prevent this. Not that big of a...

    Bipod choices?

Few words of caution on the Tubbs. It does not have a fail-proof connect/disconnect mechanism and the legs can wander on you if you deploy them in a non-symmetrical manner . If speed of deployment is of concern, might not be the best choice. I own one and love it even with these shortcomings.

    Bipod choices?

Tubbs bipod pans and has excellent pan and tilt tension adjustments.

Scout scope on an M1A Socom ??

I just put a HiLux 2.7 LER on a Spanish M43 8mm bolt gun. I also tried a red dot. Between the two, prefer the red dot with a fine 2MOA dot. With this scope, past 5x is not so great. The fixed 2.75 might be the better option.

    New to reloading 6.5 CM

Be interested to see if you experience what I believe is a cold bore POI shift. Seems significant with this rifle. Good luck with testing!
