Got out today to test the Nosler 129 ABLR, Berger 156 EOL and 120 Nosler BT bullets in my Swede Carbine. Had some 108 Lapua Scenars also in the mix. The 156 EOL shot best with the ABLR second, both using IMR 4350. I tried CFE223 with the 108's, 120 BT and ABLR. None shot well with this...

For those of you shooting lighter bullets, I'm going to be testing the 129 Nosler ABLR and the Hornady 135 Atips next week. I have a Gustaf 17" carbine length barrel on my build that really likes the 108 Scenars best so far.

Exactly where I landed. 27.0gr of CFE223 with the 80.5gr Berger Full-bore. Getting 2904 fps out of a 20" barrel. My COAL id 2.255. What's your COAL if I may ask?

Forgot to mention that if anyone is unsure if the Timney trigger for large ring Mausers really works, it does! Superb!

The gain twist rifling that early on is interesting but that's about it for me. I have two Italian M1 Garand's so my Italian heritage is in tact!

    6.5 Carcano

I recently built a few Mauser rifles. The one on the left is in 8mm and the other in 6.5 Swede. I built another (not shown) 8mm for my insane friend. But I really like the 6.5 Swede best.

    Hornady Sub-X .300 BLK 190gr. Ammo

I found the 7.62x39 SUBX factory ammo to expand to the point of disintegration into water jugs at 50 yards. Explosive effect best describes it. Maybe the extra weight in the 255gr version makes a difference?

Hornady SUBX 7.62x39 Barrel Twist Rate

I was in the exact same boat. I was very nervous and cautious as I went down this road. To your point, using cardboard is not an exact science. Maybe the other guys can chime in and make better suggestions.

Some good advise here. Rigid cardboard is your friend to see the results of stability.

Most accurate powder for .308 / 147 gr FMJ / 168 gr. Match

Interesting. I use 42.5 of Varget in my AR10 with the 155's. In my FAL I use 41.5 of H335 for the 147/155gr bullets. I'm nowhere near max loads, which in my guns produce the best accuracy!

Most accurate powder for .308 / 147 gr FMJ / 168 gr. Match

Is your FAL brand new or considered broken in? Does it have any cycling or bolt holdback issues? Asking as it would affect my powder recommendation. The basic Hornady 155gr BTHP shoots best out of my FAL. I stay away from any bullets with plastic ballistic tips just to ensure consistent...

Hornady SUBX 7.62x39 Barrel Twist Rate

I'm sure there's a better way to skin the cat, but it does work to keep the brass from shaving off the coating/lead.

Hornady SUBX 7.62x39 Barrel Twist Rate

Yes indeed, they be it. Now don't hurt yourself! As I mentioned in an earlier post, you may need to bell the neck ever so slightly. just touch it. I use my 9mm Luger bell die.

Hornady SUBX 7.62x39 Barrel Twist Rate

Jealous. I want a new Garmin chrono! The 255 subx resized for 300 blk might be more trouble than its worth based your results. I don't have 300 blk so can't help. That said, I have plenty of AA1680 laying around but have not tried it. Next reloading batch maybe I'll compare it to the H110...

Hornady SUBX 7.62x39 Barrel Twist Rate

How did those resized SubX,s shoot in 300 blk? Could not find the reloading bullets for less than $42 per box, none of which were in stock.

Hornady SUBX 7.62x39 Barrel Twist Rate

Go for it! Ping me if you have any questions. Also, the Hornady 255 SubX bullets (for reloading) have been released. Hard to find and expensive but worth a try.

Hornady SUBX 7.62x39 Barrel Twist Rate

Maybe this is an AR/ US thing, IDK. I'm guessing these implementations involve a longer throat and a more gradual land transition. A 3 thou swage (assuming your shooting .311 ammo) is a bit scary. BTW on Saturday I'm heading out to break my personal long distance 7.62x39 subsonic shot...

Hornady SUBX 7.62x39 Barrel Twist Rate

Same here. I found this out by accident. I thought all 7.62x39 barrels would have a grove diameter of .310/.311.
