Hornady SUBX 7.62x39 Barrel Twist Rate

And be careful on the terminology when confirming. Don't use Bore size. There are two measurements - Grove and Land diameter. Its the grove diameter you need to confirm is .308.

Hornady SUBX 7.62x39 Barrel Twist Rate

Its fine if your 7.62x39 barrel grove diameter is .308. Oddly not all gun and barrel manufacturers are clear on this. The Faxon barrel I'm currently using is one example. I believe the Ruger Mini 30 in 7.62x39 is another.

Hornady SUBX 7.62x39 Barrel Twist Rate

Spent some time this past weekend trying to find a crimping solution for shooting subsonic .308 bullets out of 7.62x39 cases. As previously indicated, my Faxon barrel has a .308 grove diameter so I can take advantage of this size projo. The big problem is getting any kind of crimp tension as...

    Red Dots on Long Guns

I used the BadAce Tactical mount on a Spanish 8mm Mauser. Any of these old surplus rifles with awful sights (Mauser, Mosin, SKS for example) are way better with red dot. And nothing is permanent so it can be reverted back to the original configuration. I eventually put a scout scope on it...

    M1 Garands

One of my all-time favorite rifles and a MUST HAVE as a US citizen. CMP is probably the best place to acquire your first rifle but if you want to check out the local gun shops in Tucson I'd be happy to tag along to help you find a nice one.

    6.5 Carcano

Oh for sure, Still like the M1 Garand best for open sights. I believe he is going to gift me a Carcano since I refuse to buy one. In that case I'll own one.

    6.5 Carcano

I've tried to get rid of him. He's like a bad penny. He's German and blames the Italians for many of their WW2 misfortunes.

    6.5 Carcano

Ciao man! My buddie says it was the first "intermediate" round ever developed. Anyone know if that's true? He also has the 6.5 Jap version. No idea how they compare.

    6.5 Carcano

My augment is that the 6.5 Carcano has no practical use any longer. Unlike 6.5 Swede or 30-06 for example. Other than having a piece of history, it sucks.

    6.5 Carcano

I’ve got a friend who is an avid military surplus rifle shooter/collector. He’s harassing me about not having or wanting one of these rifles. He goes as far as calling me out as “not a real Italian” for not having one. I’m 100% Italian BTW. I’ve got my share of M1 Garands and Carbines. I even...

    6.5 Grendel

I'd start with Tac for both.

Best bullets for long range 308

Just busting your chops. Seriously, nice shooting! Never tried the 185's. Only used the 175 SMK and 178 ELD-X. Tried the Warner Tool 160gr but just could not get any accuracy out of them. I think it was a 1-6 USO for your son.

Best bullets for long range 308

Your full of shit! I'll bet your son shot that with the scope I sold you for him.

Trying to develop a safe load for my .308, need help

Hodgedon H335 might be worth a try for a couple of reasons. It works well with light .308 bullets (147 to 155) and because this powder is on the fast end of the spectrum, it was the only powder to reliably cycle a new FN FAL build during its initial break-in. I still use it now in the FN at...

Hornady SUBX 7.62x39 Barrel Twist Rate

Lets talk 7.62x39 first. Love the round for what it was meant for in a combat role. But if you handload, you can do some pretty cool stuff. My goto full-house load uses the Nosler 123gr Varmageddon. Super accurate out of all my 7.62 rifles. Got them going a safe 2545 fps out of my 16"...

Hornady SUBX 7.62x39 Barrel Twist Rate

Did a quick and dirty penetration test into water jugs using a modified tipped Acme 265gr and the factory Hornady 255 Sub-X. Two completely different results. Acme went right through 4 jugs and stopped after hitting a soft kevlar vest backstop. The Hornady was explosive and disintegrated...

    Liberty Optics Still Legit?

Remember when the Hide was on Scout? That POS refused to help customers when the whole T5xi rollout went sideways. From that moment on I knew he was bad news.

Range Report 215 Berger Hybrid for hunting?

Yea just mild steel. My buddies 6.5 Creedmoore barley dented it at that distance. I was kind surprised. I was using these bullets: Guess these are not "LR". Sorry about that.

Range Report 215 Berger Hybrid for hunting?

Shot my custom 7 Rem Mag yesterday at 1015 yards. I was using the180gr Berger LRHT. Damn thing smoked right through a brand new 1/4 steel plate. Shocked and pissed off at the same time!

    Are AR-10s problematic?

After doing some research, this is why I elected to go with the JP full mass carrier regulation in addition to an the SA adjustable gas block.
