Hunting & Fishing As 2009 Season Winds Down...

The weather here hasn't been very conducive to hunting the last few days, and our deer season ends on Sunday. cry I have been seeing a lot of tracks but not much on my cameras. I decided to change my tactics. I moved a ground blind into the edge of my parent's pasture on a creek bank close to...

Hunting & Fishing Been watching hunting shows and.

Re: Been watching hunting shows and. As far as why hunting show personalities use Encores, it is about dollars and cents, but I currently own 3 frames and have killed a ton of game with my rifle and muzzleloader barrels. As far as second shots (or thirds), I set my youngest son up with a...

Hunting & Fishing big buck contest...

Re: big buck contest... Big buck contests are fun if you are competing against deer from the same geographic location, but I would be terribly embarrassed to put my puny Texas and Oklahoma bucks up against some of the midwest bruisers.

Hunting & Fishing 2009 Texas and Oklahoma Bucks

I killed this deer opening weekend of Texas gun season on my place behind my house. I have been hunting this land since 1994, and this is the biggest deer yet in rack and body size. He measured 137" and had a broken brow tine. I killed this buck yesterday on my parent's place in NW...

Re: 264 Win Mag for hunting, what do you think I have been shooting a 6.5x55 and have killed a few head of game with it (very efficiently). I am using 120 gr Rem Corelokt bullets and RL-22 powder.

    Hunting & Fishing Lightweight .308???

Re: Lightweight .308??? For a quality lightweight production rifle, I would recommend a Sako Finnlite or a Sauer 202 Outback. I have a Finnlite in 6.5x55 and a 202 in 243, and both are excellent shooters and super well made. If you want a "custom" gun, I would recommend looking into a NULA.
