    Thread away from the chuck and you can thread as fast as you can accurately engage the half nut. Then there's no risk of crashing into the shoulder with the tool especially if you have a carriage stop.

    Have you tried full length sized brass? Sometimes neck sized brass can get tough to extract from a chamber. Generally it's tougher to extract after firing not before though.

    Put a good trigger in it and shoot it for accuracy. If you can't get it to shoot, bed it. If it still won't shoot have someone true the action put a good barrel on it and I bet it'll hammer.
