Re: Pre-Fit Savage Barrels ???? I recieved a Shilen prefit 243 AI for my Savage and its shooting honest .5 MOA at 100yds with 105 AMax (1 in 8" twist). Took a while but worth the wait.

    Hunting & Fishing poacher cam!

Re: poacher cam! Sorry you have to deal with such assclowns. We had people stealing $25 feeder units on our property. Theft is theft and it would be "too bad" if your neighbor got shot "by accident."

Advanced Marksmanship prone with a sling

Re: prone with a sling Use of the sling is only part of the equation. Don't forget to check natural point of aim (let the sling help YOU, don't end up fighting the slling). Front site focus (assume iron sites) and trigger control are points to watch too.

    Suppressors S&W 1911??

Re: S&W 1911?? I have a S&W alloy commander size pistol and I really like it. Nice trigger and good shooter. Has a firing pin safter that does NOT screw up trigger pull and I think the external extractor is easier to keep clean. I have a Springfield 45 also that is very good too but I have...

    284 Win tactical build?

Re: 284 Win tactical build? I have thought about a 284 also (when I burn up the 308 barrel on my FN/Win) but I keep hearing short action limits the heavier bullets. If I have to go long action I'll stick with 6.5x55 or 30-06. Any opinions?

    Need advise on neck turning

Re: Need advise on neck turning Do you chamfer the inside case mouth before each loading? Using a die that does not overwork the case helps too (bushing or custom honed die). Annealing appears to have benefits but I think its lower down the list of possible issues that need checking. I turn...

    Maggie’s Deleted

Re: My tree hugger sister finally figured it out . Most schools are festering liberal crapholes - so this well thought out, factually relevant work will not score well. Liberals NEVER let silly little things like FACTS get in the way of their righteous attitudes and beliefs.

    wideners mil-spec 175gr fmjhp .308

Re: wideners mil-spec 175gr fmjhp .308 I have gotten just over MOA in a 308 M70 factory barrel (FN PBR). If you really want accuracy these are likely not for you. Like others have said they are not bad blasting bullets.

Rifle Scopes Suggestions for a Spotting Scope?

Re: Suggestions for a Spotting Scope? Seeing bullet holes past 400-500 yds is not too easy (no matter what scope). It has more to do with weather conditions than the scope. That said I went from a Konus to a Pentax 80mm ED. For a "cheap" scope the Konus is good but its not a Kowa. The Pentax...

Gunsmithing Torque value's on action screws?

Re: Torque value's on action screws? I called McMillan after seeing people use 65 inch/punds. McMillan says 45 should be fine (I am using just a little over that). My Choate ultimate varmint (no laughs pleaes) likes 51 inch/pounds (tried 60 and the groups sucked).

Re: Speaking of torque, what's a good torque wrench? I would love a Snap On or some other high end tool but I got the $20 special at Harbor Freight and it seems to work fine.

    45 ACP Loads

Re: 45 ACP Loads I truely don't see the usefullness of the 185g in 45. The 45 ACP is big, slow bullet and trying to get a few more fps by using a lighter bullet just does not make sense. Remember those fps start dropping the instant the bullet leaves the barrel but mass is a constant. I don't...

    Adequate tool for checking runout?

Re: Adequate tool for checking runout? I have the Forster tool and am happy with it. Measures neck thickness also (needed that for a tight neck 243 AI). The gauge helped me set up my 223 dies better and my groups for highpower improved (I still suck)! Cool to roll a case and barely see the...

    Gunsmithing barrel vise

Re: barrel vise I use a Farrel vise (AL). Electrical tape or duct tape and rosin (and whoever said duct tape is messy was not kidding but it protected the barrel).
