    Re: can't decide Why not both? Get a Savage in 260 or 6.5CM and then get an extra barrel in a 7mm, I suggest a 7RSAUM for a short action. Then you can go back and forth whenever you like, since switching barrels on a savage is easy and takes about 5 minutes to change.

    Re: .308 Carbine vs 6.8 Carbine I love the 6.8, I think it would be great in a SHTF situation since you can pack it light and hold more ammo compared to a 308, but I would go with the 308 based on ammo availability alone. A FAL would be a great choice, or an M1A.
