Advanced Marksmanship Does a longuer barrel help for 1 mile shot ?

While I agree, that is not quite the point I was making. You are saying that the app might say 4.6 Mils for X distance and that you should go out and verify that, and you might find out that it is actually 4.8 Mils. What I am saying is that when you start to get to the extremes of what a...

Advanced Marksmanship Does a longuer barrel help for 1 mile shot ?

There are extreme cases where this sentiment doesn't apply. For instance I have seen it used in an argument about 22lr vs 17hmr about the only difference between the two was how much wind effects them since you can just dial for elevation. BUT we forget that GPS and LRF are not perfect and we...

Advanced Marksmanship Does a longuer barrel help for 1 mile shot ?

There are general trends for specific competitions: F Class (Midrange 300-600) - 6 BR and BR variants will do well here. F Class (Long Range 700/800/900/1000) - Based on what I have read, looks like the 284 Win/Shehane is popular but you also have 7 SAUM, 300 WSM, and things of that nature. The...

Curtis Vector Screw backed out of hole near bolt release

Yes, that is the one. The bolt release seemed unaffected by it being backed out a bit but I guess it wasn't enough to cause a problem.

Curtis Vector Screw backed out of hole near bolt release

I have a Curtis Vector and I was installing a AW mag latch on the bane of my existence MDT ACC and the little screw that is in the hole by the bolt release on the Vector has seemed to vibrated itself back out. First question, What is it for? Second question, How do I fix this? Is it as simple...

Advanced Marksmanship Does a longuer barrel help for 1 mile shot ?

Those lighter bullets have a higher muzzle velocity but lower BC: ballistic coefficients (How well it cuts through air). So they will slow down at a faster rate then those heavy bullets. The biggest problem is going to be wind, drop can be calculated for easily but wind can not. In general...

Rifle Scopes zeroing a S&B PMII at 200 yards

IIRC there are 3 screws, 1 is flathead. I don't think you are supposed to touch the flathead one.

PRS Talk Recommended Match grade ammo for PRS match (6.5 creedmore)

I would try out different ammo and see what works best. I bought some Hornady 140 match, FGMB and Sig 140 OTM. I was not expecting much from the Sig but it shot the best in my rifle (.59 10 shot group and .47/.73 5 shot groups) so I ordered 400 more rounds. I have yet to shoot the new batch so I...

Advanced Marksmanship Shooting off of a bench

It was probably made that way for sling supported and was never fixed for bipod/bag usage. I just go prone next to the bench or if it isn't bolted down just flip it around and get square.

    Always shoot right of target

Inconsistent cant could be the cause of this, couldn't it? But it would be low and right, not just right... I think.

6.5 Creedmoor Ammo for Ruger American

There is no guarantee that two RAPs with sequential serial numbers will like the same ammo. You just need to try different match ammo until you find one it likes.

    Undecided on what rifle

It depends on what is needed to get it to work in a Tikka Chassis. If it isn't much work, I would rather have the tighter tolerances of a custom action over a mass produced one from a factory. Same thing for barrel and Rem 700 has much more trigger options in the aftermarket. Some people are...

    Undecided on what rifle

"* = Slight modifications required in standard Tikka T3 inlet stocks or chassis to accommodate the Remington 700 style trigger and safety. We are currently working with manufacturers for a DeFacto inlet, so drop-in stock and chassis option will be available in the near future. "

Best way to adjust to MIL thinking from MOA thinking

Do you though. Are you playing a game where you are forced to use your reticle to get distance? Or are you shooting at a creature that has the technology to detect your LRF? If not, you don't need any linear measurement other then distance to target. You just type in the fkn distance in the...
