    Source for Mauser magnum action?

There is nothing wrong with Zastavas, been imported by Interarms as the Mark X, Charles Daly, Remington and now are available in the US under their own label. Rumor has it they got FN's machinery, drawings etc for the commercial 98's. The stocks on the Zastavas tend to have a lot of wood and...

Might be a good option for an F-class open build throated for 180 and larger for LR matches.

    Source for Mauser magnum action?

There are some real sleepers in the Mauser market and the best of them were imported by Sears, they brought in commercial actions from FN, some of the better built, and I think had High Standard stock and barrel them. The FN action is great and the bolt face can easily be opened up to handle...

Gunsmithing Need help finding an ejector/spring for a Marlin XS7 (.243) (Out of stock online everywhere.)

Before you remove the cross pin, you might want to put a bit of duct tape over the bolt face, an out of stock ejector will be impossible to find should it fly free when its retention is removed. Disassembly in a plastic bag also works. I will never find the ejectors that went free in my shop.

Any Relationship of the Remington 40X and the "M40" or "M24"?

The one I had in hand was taken off the pallet that was supposed to be headed back to Iraq at Remington after they had repaired it. What I heard was that IBA transferred the repair contract over to the custom shop at Remington. The rifle came with the full XM3 kit as spec'ed by DARPA. The...

Any Relationship of the Remington 40X and the "M40" or "M24"?

The one we had from DARPA when I worked the OneShot program for Lockheed was a 40x, at least that was the model designation on the receiver.

Any Relationship of the Remington 40X and the "M40" or "M24"?

The DARPA XM-3 rifles built for the USMC were made on 40x receivers they were stamped as such the same as any other 40x that I have seen. No an answer to the OP's question but a tiny bit of trivia.

300 Black out help. Oblong holes with reloads

I have seen key holing in a tried and true long range F-class rifle if I allow the barrel to get very dirty, it was a surprise to me when I heard that I was keyholing from the guy pulling the target at 1000 yards. I had shot at least 3,000 rounds of that loading amongst three barrels with the...

is H- preferable over IMR- ?

Let your rifle tell you, use whichever delivers better results. To get best results you will in most cases need to develop loads for each powder separately. In case of a toss up I would go with Hogdon powders their extreme line is probably less temp. sensitive than the IMR powders.

    22 creedmoor twist rates

Years ago I built a 22x47 Lapua, similar to the 22 Creed just a little less capacity and went with an 1-8" twist rate and had great luck shooting 80 JLK at about 500 feet AGL. I would probably stick with 1-8" if I did another 22x47 unless I was looking at shooting 90 grain bullets.

    Left Hand Twist Barrel Manufacturers

The direction of fire is an issue with offset due to Coriolis force which is independent of the bullet's rotation rate or direction.

    1898 Mauser

The mark X make great hunting guns except for possibly long ranges, as the lock time and accuracy are not up to modern in most/many cases. I have a bunch of Mausers, my primary guns for hunting.

Top tier vs mid tier lower

Being a military supplier they can charge the DoD higher prices for their products if similar or same are sold on the civilian market for more. Try selling a lower for $400 to the DoD if civilians can buy similar (semi-auto) for $120. Establishing a price on the civilian market before a...

    Remington 40x estimate

I would not buy if you intend to shoot it often, all the 40x's were built on short actions so you will need to remove the bolt to unload unfired rounds because the ejection port is not long enough. That being said I shoot F-class with a 280 AI that I built on a short action. I knew I would...

    Who's got McGowen barrels ...

I would guess a chip got stuck on the cutting edge of the reamer. I have only chambered about 10 barrels so I would not consider myself to be an expert maybe a knowledgeable rookie, my barrels out shoot me so I am happy with my results and I have no rings like that.

Best subsonic round out to 200 yards

One problem with the 510 Whisper is the range of the 50 cal bullets and what sounds like close neighbors, the 50 cal pills go through the atmosphere really well and have quite a significant range.

    Scope For a Hunting Application

Give the Meopta line a look, all of my hunting guns have Meoptas on top, great optics that really shines in the last and first 30 minutes of the legal hunting hours.

Do yourself a favor and shoot it before you do anything to it, it may have some nicks and scratches on the outside but may shoot well enough for your applications. The 270 Win may not be the most popular flavor of the day but it no slouch when it comes to a hunting round. I have an arsenal to...
