Re: strange pressure issue
No pics, but high pressure as witnessed by ejector marks should show a full circle raised area where the brass is forced into the ejector hole. How flat the primers are, is also something to look at, but not a reliable indicator of pressure.
A sooty case is a sign...
Re: Best Budget Action
Once you are out of school, a lot of your work will be on Rem actions, so you might as well learn how to dial one in now. A used ADL or a discounted new one would be your best bet...$300-350.

Re: howa m1500 in 308
I'm not saying you need a new barrel, just that it shouldn't cost that much to shorten it, and it should shoot about the same after; but I wouldn't invest a lot of money in the factory barrel.
These rifles usually shoot fine for a factory sporter type rifle.

Re: Disasembly of a import M1A rear sight
Same as US with different threads.
Pop off the cover with a little upward pressure toward the rear.
Then two screw drivers in the screws.
If the threads are rusted inside soak it in Kroil overnight, and if still stuck apply some heat to the...
Re: howa m1500 in 308
Shouldn't cost more than $50 from a good local smith; it's not rocket science...that's about $40 more than a Howa barrel is worth but they still shoot ok.

Re: Purchase of Millett Scope via online store
Scopes change hands quite a few times before the customer gets it...the Chinese manufacturer ships it to the shipper...to the importer...to the distributor...to the wholesaler...to the dealer...to the customer...lots of trucks...even a boat in...
Re: Confirming something, probably a dumb question
The question that might be useful to ask yourself is... How far you want to shoot, then you will know how many mils you need to get there, and the equipment needed to do it.

Re: Savage 111 in 30-06. What to do??
The 111 is fine as a hunting rifle and will do what it was built to do without any changes...let it be.
Since you seem new to this, I would recommend leaving the Savage as it is and buy a "long range rifle" for under $1000 and shoot it.
The biggest...
Re: Remington VTR
The VTR will resonate differently than a round barrel will, but that has no bearing on trajectory, accuracy, or any bearing on anything, except to try to resonate more money out of your wallet for a useless sales gimmick.

Re: M1 converted to 7mm
My previous comment was with the understanding that it was a converted Garand. The Enfield still needs some work if you want to mount a scope on it, but that Remy would come in handy if you were stuck in the woods and needed to start a fire and the only available wood...

Re: new scope for big game at long range! please l
I am assuming you are using a LRF to determine your yardages, so all you need is a clear scope with a plain crosshair and a good elevation turret.
Once you know the range all you have to do is dial it in...that's about as simple as it gets...

That stock is designed to mate up to the receiver without bedding. Trying to bed it will just end up being a CF. Leave it.
