Trouble finding the lands two different methods with wildly different results²

Not really complicated at all. Takes less than a minute and requires no special equipment. It’ll take me longer to type this blurb then to use this method. Insert cleaning rod until it contacts the bolt face, mark rod, take bolt out and drop bullet into chamber, use pencil, primer tube, etc to...

Trouble finding the lands two different methods with wildly different results²

This is another simple way. You can use a piece of tape, an O ring, something to mark the cleaning rod if you don't want to buy the kit.

    Primer issues and questions

I had one of the triggers from Trigger Tech that was recalled that would intermittently cause a light primer strike. The primers all looked like that. I’d lift the bolt to recock the firing pin assembly, pull the trigger and the rounds would go off per usual, and then the primers looked like all...

    Primer issues and questions

The primers look like that because nothing ignited. They’re just dented from the firing pin. Whereas if they went off, then all of the pressure generated by the ignition would form them just like the other ones.

Looking for insight. Is my gun trash?

Take the muzzle brake off and see if it shoots better.

Hunting & Fishing 6.5 creed labeled “marginal”

You know why our grandfathers shot deer with 30-30s and .243s and said they were great? Because they kill deer just fine and they are easy to shoot. People nowadays gripe that a rifle is “under powered” or “Marginal” because they get buck fever and shoot shit in the paunch and expect it to die...

Suppressors OSS 7.62 Ti vs TBAC ultra 5 for Semi-auto 308

I’d go with another 7 inch can. If you’re running it like a bolt gun then length isn’t the highest priority. You’ll appreciate the extra dB reduction. Back pressure isn’t an issue with an adjustable gas block.

Alternate to Berger 140 hybrids (6.5)

There’s lots of options that work great as alternatives. Like has been mentioned, the ELDs are available and shoot well. The SMKs shoot well. Drop a few grains on the bullet weight and options open up even more.

    Question on Zero Distance

If he was shooting into a berm I’d concur with you.

    Question on Zero Distance

Cause he’s shooting into a flat cornfield and he’s a new shooter, and chances are he might not be on target after bore sighting at 100 and he might not be able to spot his miss. You could use either 25 or 50. I’m not saying use both, but either one are easier to be on target when boresighting...

    Question on Zero Distance

A lot of the above is good advice. However, if you can set up targets at any distance out to 1000 what you’re talking about OP is a mute point. Just do it on the day you go out there. Set up targets at 25 or 50, and 100. Bore sight at 25/50 real quick, shoot 1 round, make the appropriate...

Night Vision Super Yoter C - Any Experience Yet?

No worries. I’m not saying you’re doing it wrong. I believe that you’ve spent some time on it. Just for clarification on what I’m saying since it seems like part of it has been left out with what you are showing in your vid’s (which are damn good btw). What I am saying is that you zero your...

Night Vision Super Yoter C - Any Experience Yet?

I’m out of town and don’t have mine in front of me…it’s been a bit since I made those adjustments but I thought you could also adjust it at 2x and 4x. I could definitely be mistaken because I did it several months ago. However having a unified zero prior to is critical. Maybe @jstokes1 can chime...

Night Vision Super Yoter C - Any Experience Yet?

Did you have a unified zero before you made that adjustment? It looks like your optical zero is left of the thermal target. If you shifted the digital image to your zero that’s going to carry over and be twice the shift at each digital zoom level. Your optical zero and thermal zero at 1x need to...

Seems like we’re all saying the same thing, just slight misintrepations of what was written.

Night Vision Super Yoter C - Any Experience Yet?

Totally concur. It sounded to me though that he said his POI shifted 4” and 8” when he goes to 2x and 4x. If the image is calibrated at those digital magnifications, then the POI for where the crosshairs or center dot are shouldn’t change. Only your hold over value or what you dial. Which...

Night Vision Super Yoter C - Any Experience Yet?

It’s the same thing. You calibrate your image/POI at 1x, then do it again at 2x, and then again at 4x. If you don’t, you’ll get a POI shift when you use digital zoom.
