Night Vision UTC-X USB power/data cable

Anyone happen to have the pinout for the power to a UTX-X Lemo port, or a USB cable they can check out? Trying to add it to the list of splitter options for the Vortex 4000 LRF power supply cable. 7 pin Lemo, normally 1 and 2 are positive/negative, but I have no documentation or cable to...

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

OK, functional prototype is done for the power supply. Production is now just waiting on some wire and connectors. Based on the current draw, a 5K mAh USB pack should run this for 10+ hours. Those of you running a thermal sight that has external power can order a customized splitter cable to...

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

Might extend the two sides of the outer rim to match to the bottom corners.

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

Unless anyone has another suggestion, this should be pretty much the final form. I'll add a hole on the lower right for a lanyard to tie off the the cap lanyard, but otherwise, I think it's good to go. This is two layers of ND9. I'll provide 3 layers of ND9 and 1 of ND6, that should let you...

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

I should probably point out that the magnetic attachment is likely to make the compass unusable, though at night I'm not sure it matters. Since all the hardware is magnetic and it's attached to a big steel rod, I question how well it works in the first place.

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

This will give you a rough idea of what I'm building. It's on the printer now to resolve some minor sizing issues and the actual best print orientation, once that's done I'll round off the edges and mount some film. Right now, I expect these to cost no more than $25. The power supply cable...

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

Prototype came off the printer looking pretty good, some minor adjustments and I'll print a usable version tomorrow. Magnets hold on the four corner screws, a frame with four screws hold the filter material. That will let you select what density of filter you want and make it replaceable in...

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

Seems like the most direct solution. What density film are you running? I use an ND6 on the SxS display with NV, that's too dark to see by eye alone. ND3?

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

I was thinking a simple O ring to make contact would seal it fine, otherwise some adhesive backed foam.

With no real spots to hook a filter over the display, how does everyone feel about a filter holder that would use four rare earth magnets on the rear screws? With a lanyard to prevent loss if it gets knocked off, this would leave you access to the backlight button, be easy on/off and should do...

What is the best pvs14 helmet mount?

The hot ticket for a single PVS-14 is the Norotos INVG Hyper mount. The dual dovetail adapter allows you to switch eyes easily and the mount twists to allow very close storage.

Some pics of the prototype. I need contacts for the negative side of the unit, but the last parts should be here in a week.

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

Certainly, most power banks still seem to be USB A, but as these are pretty much custom built I can put most any available connector on it. I may be able to do the cap module as a Fischer as well and make it a submersible system (IP68), but there are some dimensional issues to be worked out for...

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

OK, looks like a remote power solution is doable, I've got the cap and battery replacement worked out, waiting on a few parts to complete the first test unit. What's the consensus on a cable length? A 90 degree Lemo plug will come out of the cap, there's a small power regulator on the cable...

Rifle Scopes New gun, new scope, new to distance shooting

This is about the worst possible choice to begin shooting long range. Even match ammo in n M82 is a 2 MO proposition. Few ranges will permit shooting 50's and fewer still permit API ,APIT and tracer. Sell all the ammo to some machine gunner, buy a .308, 6.5CM or similar bolt action and start...

    Coriolis Effect?

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

Well, just for those intrigued by the thought of the power splitter for the Clip-IR XLR, the connector cable cost from Fischer is $250 each, minimum order with them is $100, so I need four people who would actually want to pay about $500 for such a cable. PM if there's interest, we'll pursue...

Night Vision COTI USB Power adapters, Gen II

Yes, the bracket is identical and I can make a 1531/COTI adapter. The USB pack supplies more than enough power, I run my DTNVS/E-COTI for 10+ hours with no issues. I'm waiting on some Fischer plugs for the 1531/31A, won't be here till after the 1st of Jan though.

Night Vision COTI USB Power adapters, Gen II

The TAD i(Thermal Acquisition Device) s the new civilian version of the E-COTI, the HUD features have been removed to get the price down. TNVC is the exclusive supplier right now, delivery should be happening later this month last I heard. The TACS-M is a special order item, the battery cap is...
