Range Report Light vs heavy bullets

Drag factors being equal, this is a simple concept called inertia. A heavier object will not be moved as much by a given force as a lighter object, all else being equal. At the end of the day, long range shooters shooting known distance use heavy for caliber bullets because a better BC gives...

Range Report Light vs heavy bullets

If all you are thinking about is time of flight, your thoughts on the topic are far too simplistic.

    Any NRA members?

Do you not vote if you don't have the perfect candidate? The NRA is not perfect but it's one of the stronger games in town. I don't appreciate the constant fear-mongering, but I keep my membership current.

    Pressure Signs?

Without velocities it's tough to completely diagnose. Did you measure the distance to the lands to verify you aren't jamming the bullets? That would increase the pressure. If you are using book minimum loads, you should see book minimum velocity. It really helps if you know whether you are...

Who Still Loads on a Single Stage Press?

If you're reloading "precision" rifle rounds on a progressive, they aren't really "precision" unless you are weighing powder off the press. Any rifle rounds I consider "precision" are on the single stange. I do load bulk .223 on a Hornady LnL. It's good enough to blow up prairie dogs more...

    Who shot today ?

Last F-class match for the year, 3X600 yards. I'm still pretty new at this gig, first year and third match with a purpose-built rifle. Still pretty Micky Mouse equipment vs many others. Conditions were pretty insane with a weather front moving through. Temps in the 40s, winds from the east...

Range Report Which bullet you using - .300 win mag

Game? 200 Accubond because it works great. Targets, 200 SMK, because it's a hunting rifle, and trajectory is very close to the AB.

    Europe is GONE

I travel to Europe frequently for work. I'm also a runner. So very often I go for runs before work hours. Very often in major German cities. 3-4 years ago, this was not an issue. Sleep issues with time change, I go running 4-5am, no issues. Nobody around. Last couple years it doesn't...

Range Report 208 AMAX vs. 208 ELDm

What type of experience? Targets? Game? If it's targets have at it. The ELD-M line is plenty accurate and in my experience pretty much the same as the AMAZ. For hunting, past 1000, I can't comment from experience on these two particular bullets. In general my results using OTHER...

    The electoral college

If you can't explain yourself or simply write coherent English, I don't need you anymore either. I'm not the grammar police but it speaks to your intellect as well.

    The electoral college

I understand where you're going with that, but it's inaccurate in a way that is a bit insulting to the people at the time. At the time the Constitution was written a large portion of the populace was in remote outlying areas, and things like TV, radio, and the internet were 100+ years in the...

    The electoral college

You may be the first person to earn ignore based on stupidity. We have two houses of Congress because the framers recognized the danger in letting population dictate all representation. So the House is by population but the Senate allows equal weight to each state....and guess which one is the...

    Richard Jewel

I don't doubt he did it, but I wouldn't put it past a certain group to find someone imbalanced and gullible enough to be manipulated into this.

    Facts vs Opinions.

If you torture the data long enough, it will confess anything you want it to say... Very few people really grasp facts and how they are established. Correlative trends do not establish facts, yet the media totes them as such on a daily basis.

    Savage prefit upgrade worth it?

I have used both Shilen (Savage) and McGowen (Savage and Remage) barrels with excellent results. Lacking any better information best guess is you are experiencing stability issues. Go with a 1:8 twist and you will be good at least through the 105s.

They finally invented a retard magnet!!!!!

The issue is that, compared to most things, drugs are really expensive to manufacture due to all the regulation and sterility/QC concerns. Particularly injectibles. So when things go generic and the profit margin decreases, you often get to the point where any competition makes it unprofitable...

They finally invented a retard magnet!!!!!

There are multiple well-done studies showing a strong negative correlation between kids with allergies and kids who live in homes with pets who go outdoors. In other words, it's impossible to keep a sterile house if you have a dog tracking things in each day so that exposure is probably enough...

    Goddamit I am really OLD

Yeah, I've got a few like that myself. I let them mooch for awhile as I know the hook will set. Last winter I reloaded 500 243 rounds for a guy...he's 2 rifles deeper now and pooling funds for his own reloading equipment now. Kudos for you.

300 WM barrel for rem 700 action.

I assume you are open to Remage it, since getting a smith was an option. I have had very good luck with McGowen Remage barrels; I'm looking to order my third now. Both of the ones I have shoot nice tiny groups and clean up easy, no copper fouling. McGowen will sell you a nut to use a Savage...

    AR-15 Reloading Frustrations

Factory ammo typically meets minimum specs so will shoot in most any chamber. But once fired, all bets are off if it will fit yours and non assumption can be made. No "processing" dictates if it will fit your chamber. Take a brass fired in your chamber. Measure with a comparator. Set your...
