    DIY steel targets . . . continued

Re: DIY steel targets . . . continued 300sniper I made mine the exact same way. The legs can be swiveled for uneven ground and they can easily transported and setup. Looks like somebody is going to be buying a lot of AR plate. David

    Ballcalc

Re: Ballcalc http://sourceforge.net/projects/ballcalc/ I have been playing with it a little and it has been almost spot on with JBM out to 900 yards. David

    Gunsmithing Loose Studs

Re: Loose Studs Screw the studs out try some different thickness machine washer under them until the holes in the studs index where you want them. After you find what washer(s) you need apply some blue locktite to studs and snug them up David

    Gunsmithing 6mmBR ejection

Re: 6mmBR ejection I went out and ground the slot out in .010" increments. I ended up lengthening the slot .030". This put the end of the ejector plunger even with rim of the bolt and it works perfectly now. Thanks for the advice. David

    Rifle Scopes Nightforce zero stop

Re: Nightforce zero stop Rijndael I don't know if the MRad are different from the MOA or not. According to NF the adjustments are 110 threads per inch which is a little over .009" per revolution and that's pretty close to what I'm getting measuring with my dial caliper. It's not that is that...

    Gunsmithing 6mmBR ejection

Re: 6mmBR ejection Thanks Glen, I knew there had to be an easy fix. That was the way I leaning toward. I didn't know if maybe somebody made an aftermarket plunger or if the factory plunger could be modified. By the way my first set of Seekins rings are sitting on this rifle and I don't think...

    Gunsmithing 6mmBR ejection

Re: 6mmBR ejection I'm not having a problem with extraction, only with ejection. Are you saying that M16 extractor will help with ejection? Thanks, David

    Gunsmithing 6mmBR ejection

Are there any tricks out there to make a M700 eject 6BR cases more reliably? Most of the time the cases just fall back down on top of the follower. Thanks, David

    Rifle Scopes Nightforce zero stop

Re: Nightforce zero stop I thought about that but it's kinda hard to do when a sharpie tip is wider than the spacing that you need to draw the lines. Nightforce turrets only move about .010" per revolution. I can't draw lines that precise.

    Rifle Scopes Nightforce zero stop

Re: Nightforce zero stop Rob I agree that you can dial down, that's what I'm doing now, but it looks like it would be very easy to put the scale back on the turret housing. David

    reloading help

Re: reloading help Eddie that's what I was wondering too. That's the reason that once it goes out to the shop it pretty much stays in the shop.

    reloading help

Re: reloading help Just my thinking but I keep my powder and primers in the house for long term storage. But I don't keep taking them back and forth between climate control to non climate control though. I will take a hundred primers at time and one pound each of the powders that I using and...

    OAL variance

Re: OAL variance I haven't found a bullet yet that wouldn't vary by a least .005" when measuring the OAL from the tip of the bullet. Measure from the ogive to the base with a comparator and with good bullets you usually will not see over .002". David

Gunsmithing Found good color for stock

Re: Found good color for stock Look at the Kimber advanced tactical rifle. Same colors that you are talking about. It's coated in their own coating but the color should be close to the Cerakote. David

    Gunsmithing Carb cleaner

Re: Carb cleaner I don't believe that carb cleaner will hurt the bore but most carb cleaners are some real bad stuff. I know some of it will turn some plastics into silly putty and ruin most stock finishes very quickly. I have been using GM top engine cleaner for about 5 years now and I like...

    Rifle Scopes Nightforce zero stop

Re: Nightforce zero stop The only thing that I don't like about the zero stop is that you no longer have the graduated scale to know how many revolutions that have turned up. As far as the swapping the turret out, the standard turret will not change out with the zero stop turret. The zero...

    bump the shoulder .002???

Re: bump the shoulder .002??? Bill how many times has this brass been fired? Will the fired brass still chamber easily? Sometimes it may take 3 firings to get an accurate measurement on the shoulder. I use the Redding competition shell holders and with new brass I start off with the .010"...

Range Report Steel Targets AR500- NOT!

Re: Steel Targets AR500- NOT! I have several steel targets made out of 3/8" Tribraze wear plate and the spec sheet says that it has an AR rating of 475 to 500+. I have cut and welded all over these targets and the heat has not hurt the metal in anyway that I have seen. They have been shot...
