Range Report Help me check my math please Re: Ballistics/JBM

Help me check my math please Re: Ballistics/JBM Your math is fine (with the 90 MoA limt CoryT added). If you mount your optic on a 20 Moa or 30 MoA base, you can get more vertical adjustment range. Somewhat unnecessary for a 308 with a 90 MoA scope, however.

Range Report 350 SMK Terminal Performance

Re: 350 SMK Terminal Performance Well, given a 338LM 300 SMK can drop (DRT) any animal native to north america inside 1000 yards, I don't think there is any question other than shot placement remaining.

Range Report 338 jbm chart problems

Re: 338 jbm chart problems After playing around with JBM for a while, and getting it to give 7.5 at 500 yards, changes in various stuff always seem to put the 1000 yards MoA up at 32-34. I used the 338 SMK [Litz] bullet data. 7000 feet. The sight heights does not seem to have any big...

    pressure sign? *pics*

Re: pressure sign? *pics* I agree with the "clean the crap out of the chamber" routine. You might try a chamber brush with pelnty of solvent and some hand action.

    168 SMK and 175 SMK

Re: 168 SMK and 175 SMK In my opinion, if your gun shoots 175's well, there is no particular reason to use the 168s.

    New 223 Chamber

Re: New 223 Chamber Did they tell you what reamer they used to machine the chamber? And what is the base measurement on fired brass? And what load was the brass fired with? It may or may not be "in spec". http://www.ar15barrels.com/data/223-556.pdf

    Looking for load data .300WinMag

Re: Looking for load data .300WinMag Can I ask why you are shooting such light bullets in 300WM? I thought one would want 220s or even 240s for their wind bucking and long range BCs.

1-10 twist and 155 gr Palma

Re: 1-10 twist and 155 gr Palma My gun shot the 2155 Palma SMKs very well, then I switched to the 155 Scenars and I have not run through my stash of 2K scenars to be able to try the 155 Bergers or the 2156 Palma SMKs. ETA: My gun has an excellent shooting node down at 43.6gr Varget and...

    155 scenar's. Beating a dead horse?

Re: 155 scenar's. Beating a dead horse? Some times the 155s don't shoot well unless you get them up to 2950 fps. In my gun this is 47.8 gr Varget in Win cases, However, there is another node down near 2650 fps at 43.6gr Varget.

    Neck tension problem

Re: Neck tension problem Well, 332 - 2*013 = 306 so a 304 pilot should fit. If it does not then: A) the bushing is not 332 B) the pilot is not 304 C) the neck walls are not 013 or D) the bushing is not round (and thus the neck is not round after) There aren't any other ways the math can work.

When to use a Full Length Die

Re: When to use a Full Length Die I have never used a FL die, When the shoulder needs a bump, I use a body die and then a NO die afterwards.

    308 guru's

Re: 308 guru's Mine don't start compressing until 46.2 gr (but I run 47.8 gr) both in Win Brass. Lapua should be 47.4-5 so you should start getting compressed at 45.8-ish. After the first firing, the case has more capacity as it swells to fit the chamber.

    Pressure signs

Re: Pressure signs Note that none of Mallard's overpressure cases have primers with sharp corners.

    Cold Weld- Theory or Fact?

Re: Cold Weld- Theory or Fact? Most of the time, the powder is degrading slowly over time as oxygen "gets to" the retardents. This increases the burn rate and does nothing positive wrt pressure signs. Paraphrased from the Norma Reloading manual 2004 pp 98.

    Inside neck reaming

Re: Inside neck reaming An inside neck reamer is generally used to cut the doughnut off the inside of the neck (after resizing and trimming many times). An outside neck trimmer is used to cut the neck wall to constant thickness. If you have a factory chamber, neighter is "all that useful"...

    Need Help with bullet runout

Re: Need Help with bullet runout In any event, runout less than 0.003 (or even 0.004) does so little damage to accuracy, that you can ignore it as a problem (until you start shooting in the zeros (0.0xx 5 shot groups).)
