Rifle Scopes The truth about Leupold thread

I own at least 6 Leupolds, plus Kahles, Zeiss, Swarovski, Nightforce, a couple Pentax, one or two Nikons and lots of Burris. Leupold has the following faults. 1. Leupold is the last company to update their product, they are not leaders in the forward vision of the Optics world. Nikon...

    20x60 IS Zeiss

I want a pair in the worst way, but are they really worth $7000?

    Thoughts of 300 win mag

Long VLDs and it kills stuff and distance. Nothing wrong with it, but getting the BC to go long distances requires more twist than most factory 1 in 10 barrels are.

    Multicam softshell jacket

Ok, just read the "what are you paying for", they are using the same Schoeller fabrics, I'll take a look into it. Kind of overstocked on outdoor pants and blessed with only one ass, so I'll give it a bit of time before I order anything else.

    Multicam softshell jacket

Kuiu junky and bowhunter ARGH! Well you warned me :) I'll take a second look at their stuff. I have enough Schoeller fabric mountaineering gear that it will be a long time before I buy anything from Kuiu for a mountain hunt.

    Gunsmithing Frustrations with McMillan stocks

I have a couple of each, HS Precision, Manners, McMillan and a one Bell and Carlsons. Honestly the last stock I ordered from Manners took a long time but was perfect, other than for specialty pistol stocks (HSP and MCM alone on those) Manners has 99% of my needs covered. Whatever the situation...

    Multicam softshell jacket

Made in China, and pretty steep on price. Lots of made in Eastern Europe out of Schoeller fabric out there as well.

    Gunsmithing Working out the weight.

And I wouldn't buy a March for anything, I want a proven company with at least 20 years in the business.

    Gunsmithing Working out the weight.

I want it to be under 20, I think Idaho has a stupid law on the books about a rifle has to be under 17 pounds. If I ever hunt Idaho, i'll makes sure I use a different rifle. As for light weight options, I am not interested in any of those. I don't want anything that will sacrifice what I am...

    Gunsmithing Working out the weight.

You just have to eat your wheeties. The 338 at about 9 plus pounds with a good brake is workable. No brake and your into the 15 plus range before it belts you less.

Rifle Scopes Tactical Scope With Best Glass For $2000?

Haven't heard much about them yet but I'm predicting Ridiculous low-light performance and clarity for the price. Another cheaper scope to not forget about for lowlight performance as per the OP, is the: Trijicon 5-20x50 Accu-Point 30mm Rifle Scope Though I doubt either one of these will match...

    Baby names... need some help

Dude google Sierra and Porn, and see how many of those sluts are named Sierra. Daughters names have to pass the slut test.

    6x47 or 6.5x47

I have a 6x47 Swiss Match (not the same thing) and a 6.5x47 that I recently sold. I personally wouldn't build a 6x47 when you can build a 6mm XC and use Norma brass. And I would not build a 6mmx47 Swiss Match as brass is a pain in the ass to get from Europe. Honestly I'd build a 243 Win and...

    Gunsmithing Working out the weight.

Thanks, How much does the Defiance intermediate port heavy tang bolt action weigh? Defiance doesn't have it on their website. And I am overseas doing contractor work. (not that kind of contractor work :( ). Terry's stock is about 5.3 pounds. A AMU barrel at 30 would be 7.4 pounds approx...

    Gunsmithing Working out the weight.

I am splitting hairs on what to order. The new integral rail Defiance action is looking good, especially since Surgeon is doing limited non-full rifle sales. I want a 338 Lapua and I want the weight below 17 pounds with a 34mm Nightforce, Hendsolt or Schmidt Bender on it. I want as long a...

    Sako TRG 22 Expected Accuracy?

Twist rate is 1 in 11. I had good luck with the same barrel in a Tikka with 165 Accubonds, 190 Berger Scenars, and 190 SMKs. Was a 3/8ths inch gun with my load with the Accubonds and SMK. You need more bullet.

Hunting & Fishing Hunting in Germany

Probably a roe deer, wildboar, fox or hare. He would be a member of a revier (leased hunting area), and have to shoot 20-40 roe deer per year.

Hunting & Fishing Hunting in Germany

I have hunted Germany a couple of times. If he is willing to risk his Jagdschein (German hunting license) by allowing you to handle a firearm without proper licensing that is his issue. You can get a visitor license that is only good for a week by asking him to do it for you. The price is...

    Gunsmithing Manners t5a + tikka t3

Talk to Chad Dixon, he re-inets stocks all the time. I think he tapes the bottom fills it full of devcon and runs hard on the milling machine.

Gunsmithing Would like trigger opinions for Deviant action build

In 700's I have had Shilens, 1 Jewell, a couple Timneys and a Extreme. If you like 2 stage get the Extreme. If you want to clean it all the time get a Jewell. If you are human and don't want to have to worry about BS in the trigger get a Timney.
