Gunsmithing Gunsmith rec: T3x TAC, TRG 22 stock + trigger, W3 backbone

That would be an awesome rifle, and something I would love to try for myself. If the geometries of the trigger and bolt handle line up, the biggest issue is likely going to be the magazine. On a TRG the stock and back of the trigger guard hold the magazine, the backbone just has a hole in it for...

Gunsmithing WIN70 CRF setup for prefits?

If one were to make a tool that was basically an action face with a protractor engraved around it he could then measure and record the timing of the extractor cut once they had completed the first barrel with a particular action in hand. But that would only help if the customer re ordered from...

Gunsmithing Trued Rem 700 Action beneficial?!

In my non professional opinion, is kind of like race car engines. To get a big improvement in horsepower, it’s reletavely easy, swap out a few parts. To ring out all the horsepower a given engine can produce takes a ton of work, money, and a master at the art. I’ve been doing my own work for...

Gunsmithing Precision Rifle Build Class.....does anyone offer one?

Give Gordy a call and talk to him. His classes are well done, and I know at one time he would also do one on one work. It would not surprise me if you could work something out with him. He’s a great guy.

Suppressors Need advice - TBAC 338 Ultra options/questions

Buy a brake for each rifle. I’ve never had problems with my 338 ultra getting stuck on the brake. Use a couple of drops of loctite on the barrel threads and use a wrench to snug up the brake. Just don’t use a pipe wrench when you install the suppressor and it’s unlikely to get stuck. My...

Gunsmithing Chamber Chamfer for improved feeding with minimal body taper cartridges

This may be totally off the wall, but in your video and pic #3 it looks like the back end of the case may be getting caught under the edge of the ejector plunger. You may want to try removing the ejector plunger from the bolt and see if the problem still persists.

Gunsmithing Remage barrel. What else can/should i do while im at it?

Be aware that if you are replacing the bolt with a one piece bolt it may still require fitting even with a remage barrel nut system. I recently had a Ptg one piece bolt that would not close on a new action. I needed to face the back of the lugs on the bolt to make it work properly.

    Gunsmithing Pre-Cerakote Degreasing

Nitrile gloves and acetone don’t mix. Vinyl flat out dissolves instantly. Latex will offer some level of protection, but check the chemical compatibility charts for the best answers as to type and thickness needed for adequate protection.

Gunsmithing Sako TRG Scope Mount Threading

Yes, there is typically loctite between the rail and action, and it is pinned as well. Once the screws are out, a few taps with a punch on the rail should knock it loose.

Rifle Scopes Best Scope for Hunting, Long Range AND Rimfire!

The Vortex Viper PST Gen2 in 3-15 x 44 SFP would also work well. Parallax down to 20 yds. Have one on my hunting rifle and it works well.

    New bling from KRG

FedEx showed up today! Love how the chassis feels, very similar to my TRG. Will get some range time tomorrow. FYI a M5 x .8 x 20mm screw will get the rear flush cup back in order. I had to buzz a few thou off the OD of the head with a file to get it to drop into the cup, but for $0.55 at the...

Short barrel - light 6.5 hunting rifle

I just finished a 16.5” 6.5 Creedmoor rem 700. I used a Bartlein #3 as it was the lightest that I could cut that short and have the min barrel diameter for threading. Total weight is right at 9 lbs with scope. I get 2500 FPS out of factory 140 grain loads. Very handy even with the suppressor...

Gunsmithing Scope mounting in-lb torque wrench recommendation?

The Borka kit will do it all and is a solid piece of kit, but for rings I actually prefer the screwdriver style torque wrench by Vortex. I have both and use both all the time. The Vortex wrench only goes up to 50 in lbs so it’s not a solution for everything, but for rings it’s easy to use and...

    Precision Rifle Tripod rest

IMO Rapid adjustment from sitting, kneeling, to standing and tripod don’t belong in the same sentence. It is definitely a superior shooting platform, but fast it is not. If wieght is not an issue, any heavy enough aluminum tripod should do the trick, but having shot off both I prefer carbon...
