Precision Rifle Gear New Athlon Rangecraft Chronograph-Garmin Xero Killer?

That is the correct app. In the “hamburger” menu at top right, you can select “connect device,” and go through a couple steps (within the settings app to connect to the device via Bluetooth, and through the Athlon Ballistics app) to connect the device to your phone. Once connected, again in the...

Precision Rifle Gear New Athlon Rangecraft Chronograph-Garmin Xero Killer?

The communicated "precision" for the Garmins, as well as the LabRadar LX's and the Athlons, is supposed to be +/-0.1% for rifle cartridges (I'm not terribly certain why the precision specification would quadruple for slower projectiles, other than a potential for lower integrity frequency shift...

Precision Rifle Gear New Athlon Rangecraft Chronograph-Garmin Xero Killer?

I'm sorry - I wasn't very clear before - the 1.0.74 is the app version on the phone, but within the manage device tab, looking at the DEVICE firmware itself, the app will show the firmware version installed on the chronograph, 1.40.XX.X Two of my Athlon units had issues with notably high...

What is the firmware version displayed in your app (not on the unit itself)?

Direct thread. QD on the brake mount is ok, but not as repeatable as the DT.

Sturm Ruger has bought Anderson Manufacturing

Eh, that's really just a way of letting Anderson dealers which suddenly can't deal the product any longer remain a resource for their consumers. The vendors won't be able to provide warranty work or replacement Anderson parts, but they'll be able to provide service and parts from whatever other...

Much easier to start from this position with a 338 Lapua. That can be rebarreled to 300 Norma any time thereafter, but will be easier to feed out of the gate as a 338 Lapua.

    Long range build advice

My ELR Heavy rifle is a 36" Bartlein with a 1.7" shank on a 1.75" Bat Model L in a Manners LRT-2 chambered in 375 Cheytac. It's 38lbs all in (Ko2M legal). I'm finishing up my ELR Light Rifle on a Bat CT action and 1.4" shank 30" Bartlein chambered for 300 Norma in a Manners F-Class. My ELR Tac...

    Long range build advice

...... As I stated, his build list looks like a PRS rifle build list, just in a long action magnum cartridge... So if he's not talking about PRS matches and doesn't respectively need a PRS rifle, his build list shouldn't look quite so much like a PRS rifle... We can shoot long distance and ELR...

Precision Rifle Gear New Athlon Rangecraft Chronograph-Garmin Xero Killer?

Placing the unit "a couple feet from the barrel" is definitely outside of spec for the unit. They'll often pick up shots wider than the 5-15" (or 4-10") specs state, but of course, we're risking more cross-fire capture the wider is the beam.

Precision Rifle Gear New Athlon Rangecraft Chronograph-Garmin Xero Killer?

Timing this for the different units is part of my matrix also, but still not complete. Observationally, the updated firmware on the LabRadar LX's are the fastest I've witnessed, Athlons behind them, and the Garmins slightly slower, but all of them have processing delays. I'm kinda curious...

    Long range build advice

Chambered in any magnum cartridge, this kinda looks like a PRS rifle built in an ELR Light Division cartridge. It will be a train wreck for PRS shooting, and will give up performance to proper light rifles in ELR.

Gun mount vs. static (tripod) makes a difference: Chronograph Comparison: Gun Mounted vs. Static In preliminary testing, in preparation for a larger scale analysis, I haven't been able to as definitively promote positional sensitivity for any "reasonable" static position or direction nearby...

    20" barrel 6 Dasher/BRA/BR?

I put a 26” Dasher M24 into a Manners G2 Compact stock a few years ago for my son (years before the Nightstalker came out), he was 9 at the time and ~65lbs. Total weight was ~17lbs. Even with an Omega 300 on the end for suppressor only matches, he manages the rifle on his own. Finale in ID last...

    20" barrel 6 Dasher/BRA/BR?

EH... A lot of stuff can be fun to use for matches, but a 20 inch "anything" wouldn't be on my short list. Balance would be my biggest concern for a competition rifle. A lot of us are shooting 26-28" tubes with 6-8" cans and not having issues with maneuverability - and there remains good reason...

Sturm Ruger has bought Anderson Manufacturing

Ruger’s announcements directly stated that they bought the manufacturing assets, are discontinuing the Anderson brand, and will be using the facilities and existing workforce to expand their own brand production.

Sturm Ruger has bought Anderson Manufacturing

Something was for sale, someone bought it. In the grand scheme of things, I guess I’m glad Ruger bought it and is intent to continue operations using the existing workforce. I’ve read a few posts online speculating as to why Anderson was in a position to sell, but in the end, it doesn’t matter...

    20" barrel 6 Dasher/BRA/BR?

What are you trying to accomplish with the rifle? I assume since a 20” suppressed Dasher is an option, this isn’t any kind of competition rifle, so sure, 20” makes as much sense as anything. I have a 10” 243win and a 15” 6 creed. I had a 14” 300 wsm for a while, and had a 11” 7 BR. All of it works.
