What does your Remington 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD muzzle look like?

Another 'only had about a dozen rounds through it!' That actually means about a dozen boxes! Scrub, scrub, scrub with some bore cleaner and an old toothbrush. While you're at it, scrub the bolt face and extractor. I'll bet it's dirty too.

    Badger DBM question

GAP will inlet your B&C or other aluminum bed stock for Badger DBM. Can't/won't do Hogue overmold or other plastic stocks. Many try but they flex too much, the results will never be precision.

Cool looking gun. I'd want to check it out too, I just don't think waiving it around pointed over my left shoulder in public is the way to do it!

    Gunsmithing 220 Swift for 90 gr VLD's.

A few years ago Ross Seyfried had an article in the American Rifleman, (January 2008) about a 6mm Remington necked down to .22. He was shooting 80 grain Match Kings in an 8 twist barrel and doing some amazing stuff. He used bushing dies, Redding I think, and just used a .22 size bushing in a 6mm...

    26 nosler

.264 Win Mag is a barrel burner. This is even more so. I have a heavy .264 WM that I like a lot. But I don't shoot it a lot.

    22-250 with AI mags

I've got a 6mm-250. It feeds fine from the AICS mags so I think the 22-250 would also. The biggest pain is getting them into the magazine, short and kinda stubby with a lot of taper. You get the first one in and it set so far back that it's tough to push it down with the next one. A lot more...

Rifle Scopes What distance is a 20 MOA base needed?

Most 1" scopes will have enough travel to get you out to 600 yards with a 0 moa base. Most 30mm tube scopes will get you to 1000 yards. Keep in mind you will be using the edge of the travel range and your windage will be limited at the extreme range (scope tubes are round: when you move toward...

    Gunsmithing Rem 700 action ?

Talk to your smith, they will have a recommendation. Some are comfortable opening a bolt up, others are not. Some like PTG bolts. Talk to the smith. If your smith won't talk with you or can't talk intelligently about it, find another smith.

Gunsmithing 400 pound gorillas at Remington

Beepy, What vise are you using? About half of these threads the work is trying to be done with a bench vise. A barrel vise is either hydraulic or uses 3/4" bolts that you tighten to 150 foot/pounds. If the barrel is twisting in the vise you've got to crank the vise down. I believe the Wheeler...

Trying to decide on 500-1000 yrd bolt gun. Suggestions please.

My suggestion is stick to Barbie Dolls. But, as an aside, do you have any other precision rifles? Do you handload? I'm thinking no and no. Go buy a .308. I prefer a Remington but do whatever makes you feel good. Shoot it. A lot. Once you have put enough rounds down range that the throat is...

dicks adl vs sps varmint rem 700

Just dropped a black Friday Dick's ADL Varmint .308 into a B&C 1000. 15 rounds of soft point, cleaned and then shot three 5 shot moa groups with Federal GM 168. If it stays in that stock and gets bedded it should get close to 1/2 minute. I've done the same with a Dick's .223 and .243. Too cheap...

    Gunsmithing Is this bolt toast?

Like Aeon1 said, just shoot it. The pitting is under the case at the junction where the primer and case meet. With spec loads and decent, primers this area should not flatten to the point where the primer would flow into the pits in the bolt. You've got to be shooting some hot handloads to get...

    Gunsmithing Gunsmithing Tools

Go take one of their Summer NRA week long classes. Highly recommended. I've done a few weeks at Lassen CC's program in Susanville, CA. You spend more on tools than tuition. You can get the tool lists for Lassen's classes online. Probably Trinidad's too.

    Gunsmithing Mcmillan and stiller.

Inlet for the Stiller pillars. Pillars are spacers for the DBM (they put the lever on the DBM, and therefore the magazine, at the correct distance from the rails/bolt/chamber). It's always best to use the pillars that were manufactured with the DBM
