What are the most reliable, trust-with-your-life firearms out there?

Revolvers are super reliable, just don't flip the cylinder open too hard, drop them, etc. I'm surprised to see so many recommend them. A $500 pistol (Glock, M&P, etc) is going to be more reliable than a revolver at any cost and most of them are stupid overpriced.

Rifle Scopes Are lens caps created equal????

The stainless that Tikka uses (or used a few years ago anyways) will rust pretty quickly as well. I like to use a wax type preservative such as Rennaissance wax especially in areas that I'm not going to be oiling often. It seems to last practically forever as long as you aren't touching it.

Rifle Scopes Are lens caps created equal????

I've shot some matches in the rain and the best solution I saw people using was chamois material. The real leather stuff you buy to dry your car. Cut a few square inches out and throw it in your bag. Even if you use scope caps, your lenses are going to get wet when you have to use your scope.

    Suppressors TBAC suppressor

I'm willing to trade a few decibels to save a few ounces. Keep in mind the weight is way out there at the end of your barrel and will greatly affect balance.

    Suppressors First Suppressor Advice

Whatever you decide, make it a brake attach. I have several cans and my TBAC Ultra 7 is my favorite. It's a good balance of quiet, durability, weight. Another thing that I like is that there's a very good chance the folks at TBAC are reading this post right now. If you had a problem you will be...

Rifle Scopes Bushnell DMRII.....Will I Regret It? OR?

When I brought this up a while back people acted like I was crazy. Glad I'm not the only one who found the glass unacceptably bad.

Rifle Scopes Bushnell DMRII.....Will I Regret It? OR?

I'm certainly not a glass snob and I'm generally happy with the glass even in cheap scopes (Weaver 3-10 comes to mind) but this one wasn't acceptable for this price range at all. Like I said, it must just be variance and quality control. I don't think the ERS is supposed to have better glass...

Rifle Scopes Bushnell DMRII.....Will I Regret It? OR?

Most folks seem happy with them so theres a great chance you'll get a good one, but it's not something I'd risk again. I've never read anything bad about the Pro models, but then again in the price range I'd go PST2. The PST2 had excellent glass. Not just "good enough." The turrets also felt...

Rifle Scopes Bushnell DMRII.....Will I Regret It? OR?

There must be a big variance in glass quality within the line. I had a DMR2 and the glass was pretty bad in it. I mean sub $100 scope bad. The only other Bushnell scope I had before that was an ERS and the ERS had pretty good glass. I dealt with it for a while and then the tracking took a...

    New Sig CROSS

Likewise. They do look nice for sure especially if you are dropping it into a stock that has a big barrel channel. A CF barrel MIGHT give you a few more accurate shots, but realistically how often do you have to take more than 3 shots at game that quickly and at a range where slightly less...

    New Sig CROSS

A carbon fiber barrel would have increased cost by several hundred dollars while giving zero advantages in a hunting rifle. Maybe unpopular opinion but if you want your rifle to look cool, install your own Proof barrel when they become available.

New Winchester Staball 6.5 ball powder

Today's outing. 200 yards with 142 Sierra's. Much more promising than the 130 Hornady's. Very good velocity from this powder from a 22" barrel. Velocities on MS readout are only 1 round from each charge weight but give an idea of speed 2- 43.8 ~2720 3- 44.2 ~2770 4- 44.6 ~2790 5- 45.0 ~2830 -Dan

Rifle Scopes Leupold Mk6 Turret question

I think it was only 2-3 weeks. But the first time I dialed up and then back down to zero with the new turret it locked up. They got something wrong with the locking mechanism in the turret. I convinced them to just let me send in the bad turret rather than the whole scope again and the new one...

Rifle Scopes Leupold Mk6 Turret question

I had it done a few years ago. It was about $150 at the time but I heard they bumped that up quite a bit since then. Either way, well worth the money. It goes from having unacceptably bad turrets to being a decent scope. I really like the C turrets.

    Range Report IMR 8208xbr & 77smk

My go to load that seems to shoot well in every rifle is a 75 BTHP with LC brass and 23.7 8208. So pretty much in line with what others are recommending, maybe a bit hotter.

New Winchester Staball 6.5 ball powder

It may still have some value for someone wanting to shoot something odd like 208s, but yeah that's not great for a Palma set up where you really want every advantage you can get. Cool to see another data point though. -Dan

New Winchester Staball 6.5 ball powder

Groups weren't great at .8-1.1", but here's the results anyways. I only checked velocity on 3 rounds of the 45.8 load but it's ripping the 130s at 2950 out of a new 22" barrel so that velocity will go up.

Suppressors Sharing Suppressor between Bolt Gun and ar15?

I've done the launchy thing too. My ASR mounts are mostly ok but I've got one that I've had come loose a few times. Not enough that it would cause issues, but it was just kind of in between teeth. I screw the can on pretty tight too. Just tolerance stacking. Probably wouldn't be good on a...

New Winchester Staball 6.5 ball powder

ARC Arc., Criterion 6.5 Creedmoor 22". Initial rounds loaded to see where I hit pressure. No hard bolt lift, but I have a feeling something right around 46 grains is going to be good with these 130 Hornady's. There are 18 shots on this paper so the barrel has... About 23 rounds through it so...

New Winchester Staball 6.5 ball powder

No harm in trying. Would prob have the best chance in bullets heavier than 175 grains. What I was getting at is that Staball seems to be a bit slower burn rate than H4350 and 4350 is generally too slow for 308. Post up your results. I'll be doing some testing with 6.5 Creed and 130s in the next...
