Building a Remmy 300 Win Mag, standard or oversized rail screws?

It becomes more important if you are mounting a heavy tactical style optic on it. If the scope weighs more than 24 ounces it is always a good idea to go with the bigger 8X40 screws especially when mounted to a .300WM

    Gunsmithing >Remington 700 .308 Bolt Interchangeability

The jeweled bolt from my VLS and my ADL varmint(both in .308) are interchangeable when it comes to head space. I don't really see the point of fluting a bolt. The AW Arctic rifle has a fluted bolt to dispense of ice that may build up but I've never had that problem so I won't use a fluted bolt.

    Frustration! Lake city brass

It helps me to decap 1X fired LC before I size. I use the Lee decapper and base wth a rubber mallet. Sizing goes a lot smoother with the crimped in primer being gone and allows for more consistency. Lee Decapper Base 30 Cal

    Need Brass ??

WOW I'm not exactly sure what I would do with a literal ton of 7.62mm Lake City once fired brass. It would probably take me the rest of my life to prep it.

For those loading for a while...FGMM Brass VS LAPUA Brass

I am probably one of the only guys on this site who doesn't think Lapua brass is te end-all be-all. Trying to run a 175gr SMK at the same velocity as FGGM is tough on brass and ALL brass will develop loose primer pockets on about the 4th load. I stopped using Lapua years ago as 1X fired LC and...

When is it time to discard Brass

If you need to size primed brass the easiest way it to disassemble the sizing die and remove the decapping pin. Carefully lube your primed cases and run them through the size. Wipe the case lube off the primed case and measure. When finished remember to reinstall the decapping pin or the next...

    Reloading 75 and 77gr for 1/7 twist 16" DD

My Colt 6920 loves 24.1gr of N140 with a 77gr Nosler custom competition. My WOA 18in SPR bbl with rifle length gas system and 1/7 twist also likes this load but doesn't prefer it. I get better velocity through both than I do with Federal Gold Medal 77gr SMK.

http://www.midwayusa.com/product/169253/ptg-solid-pilot-chamber-finish-reamer-338-lapua-magnum You can see the taper as I describe created in the leade by the chambering reamer. There has to be a taper or your projectile would have to be enclosed inside the case. If the case contacts the leade...

Gunsmithing Input on what happened to this brass...

Most likely you wouldn't feel the brass enter the leade because of the gradual taper that makes up the leade. Once the bolt lugs make contact with the receiver the few thousandths of brass that gets crushed into the rifling/leade won't be noticable because of the considerable force needed to...
