    To Chop my 17's Barrel or Not???

    I'm taking my Savage 93R17 FVSS in to have the barrel threaded for one of my cans, and was wondering if I should have a little of the barrel chopped and recrowned while it's in there. Would I screw up the accuracy? Is there an optimum barrel length for 17HMR's? I really cant find anything on it.

    Re: Economy 243? i'm thinking that i'd like to keep the whole package under $1500. i don't reload as of this time, that is why i want a .243, because there's lots of factory rounds out there and they aren't crazy expensive.

    i want to put together a good shooting 243 for deer hunting down here in texas. something that wont break the bank. synthetic for sure, stainless if possible. for the rifle i was thinking a savage? not really sure what optics to go with. what do you guys think?
