    223 Brass Worth Reloading?

It will be quite sometime before you learn enough about reloading and load development (and maybe shooting) to tell the difference between any of it. Just don't try to load on the ragged edge of a KABOOM and have fun learning and shooting.

    Smoke coming out bolt shroud

"the rifle has a bad chamber so its hard to put rnds into the chamber, and to take them out even with not so hot loads" Yeah, jugged chambers do that. Keep increasing charges a half grain at a time until something comes apart, then back off three quarter grain.

    When to bump shoulder back?

It's best to set the shoulders back just before you begin to feel resistance when closing the bolt; a jammed fit prestresses the action and that's detrimental to fine accuracy. Done that way, it's best to set the shoulders back 1 thou but no more than 2 thou. :)

    Size of Reloading Market

"Any ideas?" No one tells me such things but my guess is 62,837. And, since there is absolutely no way, or reason, to know, my guess is as good as anybody's. ??

    Equipment Question

"There is up to .030 difference in the tip to base measurements. Is this likely in the press or die?" Neither. That's a LOT of seating variation and no die could do it, nor any press unless it's made of rubber. I suspect you're seating too quickly to have a consistant pressure applied...

Building new reloading room for my new equip

I'm a higly trained perfessnal space electronix instruments tech and there's no automatic problem with flourescent lights and digetal scales. It IS, or was, the magnetic fields from the old style ballasts that caused some problems. If I were making a dedicated new reloading room from scratch...

    300WM Small base sizer

I know of no one who makes a SB die for .300 mag. Turn your present sizer down another 1/8 8urn, that will probably be as SB as you'll need. If not, web search Innovative Technologies and get one of Larry's collet body sizers. And next time you get a new barrel don't get a match chamber.

Post anything that has helped you as a reloader!

The single greatest reloading "tool" is a good, well designed, sturdy and smooth topped loading bench with the press(es) mounted high enough you can fully depress the handle without bending over. The main press, powder measure, scale and trickler placed in a well thought out work flow path...

    Neck dies Bushing vs Collet

Ah, it's fun to watch as the half-truths fly on "neck tension" and collet vs. bushing neck sizing is discussed. First and biggest thing that's missed is the inside diameter of a neck is only a moderate part of bullet grip. What's called "tension" is what machinists call an "interference...

    Neck dies Bushing vs Collet

" A FL die would also size the length of the case, correct?" Not quite. An FL die affects case length by squeezing the body slightly which makes the case longer which demands the shoulder be set back a tad and that means the neck get longer and it has to be trimmed. So ... the FL (or...

Best powder droppers for slow powders?

"I have a Harrell Powder dropper ...." "Dropper"? Harrel's measure is as good as powder measures get. No volume measure can possibly drop charges of course powers with high consistancy. If you can't do it well enough yourself, get yourself a digital dumpster measure.

    Neck dies Bushing vs Collet

Aw man, don't tell him that! Okay, sure the Lee's work work great but there's learning curve some people who don't know what they're doing never get over. And they aren't expensive. And they're Lee. There just ain't no way to sound elitist when you prefer Lee's neck die just because they...

    Reloading table

4x4 legs are massive over kill with no benefit...none of us will ever crush a vertical 2x4, that's more than strong enough legs for a reloading bench. Placing a second shelf under a bench like rdinak's and loading boxes of brass, loaded ammo, a tumbler & media, tools, etc, on it will...

Frustrated - I need help with my OAL measurements!

"I have read some posts where people simply average the discrepancies to find their theoretic OAL, however averaging a spread of 8 thousandths makes a claim like "I am seating .001 off the lands" statistically silly." Agreed, seating/jump gets more thoughtful web BS than most subjects. I get...

SOB ! Chargemaster is f'd up.

"Geez....must all depend on who you talk to. I sent one back last year (out of warranty) for a bad keypad. They said send them a check for $35 and that was all." That's about what I suspect the things cost RCBS to buy and ship to you - anything more in purchase or replacement is their gravy...

    Precision Rifle Reloading Press Choice

"I've been using the LNL bushing set for 2-3 years with great success. ..., and I love being able to click my dies in and out in seconds while knowing they're already set. Try it, you might like it! " After some 47 years of handloading I don't have to try quickie die bushings to know (1) they...

Newbie to reloading. Tumbling brass vs ultrasound cleaning

Different strokes.... I've been doing this stuff far too long to get hung up on trivia, I want performance. For what it's worth, both wet methods do get the last thin smear of carbon residue out better than a vib tumbler and all it takes is a lot more investment in money, time and messy...

    Precision Rifle Reloading Press Choice

It doesn't matter what I use, for precision reloading I would use an arbor press and hand dies. Certainly not a turret or progressive press nor any quick-change die bushings.
