    Gunsmithing Lathe/Mill Questions

Re: Lathe/Mill Questions If you're shopping I'd advise not to get in a hurry. Get up to speed on what to look for in used machinery. There's a lot of stuff out there that gets a coat of paint slapped on it and the rust sanded off and its only worth its weight in scrap iron. There are a number...

    Gunsmithing Rem 700 receiver print?

Wondering if anyone has a print or CAD drawing of a stock 700 receiver that they can share. Interested in the dimensions related to the top scope mount area, namely the rear bridge radius and the specified difference between the height of the rear bridge compared to the front.

    My new McMillan A5...wtf

Re: My new McMillan A5...wtf Looks the same as my A3-5. Like it was hand made, because it was, just for me, to my specifications and I'm damn proud of it. There's no mistaking a MCM stock on a line, and anyone who knows rifles knows that if the action is sitting in a MCM, the rest of the...

Gunsmithing The blueprinting debate. . .maybe this will help.

Re: The blueprinting debate. . .maybe this will help. Dredging up this topic from a while back. If I understand correctly the process is summarized as follows: Level the action in the vise using a parallel in the bolt way as a reference plane such that X & Y at zero insures that the Z is...

Trying to plan a P-Dog trip for 2011 with a few friends, former military and active duty. Looking for some contact assistance. One year we went to Laramie WY and used Davy Nacy and his partner Kent as our guides. It was a good trip. Nacy has gotten out of the guide biz for the most part...

Gunsmithing PTG threaded handle and a Badger knob?

Anyone know if the Badger knob will fit & look right with the PTG Rem 700 threaded handle? Just looking at it it appears that the threaded portion of the PTG handle might be too short to fit fully in the knob.
