New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
Good info guys, thanks. I used to clean my barrel after every outing to the range. This weekend I went out and shot roughly 100 rounds without a patch through the bore... Ended up shooting a personal best .70" group at 200 yards....
Do any if you guys shoot suppressed? The crown of my rifle gets really crusty with carbon after only 10-15 rounds through my 30P-1. Do you guys clean the crown during a match?
I agree that my rifle shoots best after 8-12 fouling shots. I use old reloads for foulers, so its slightly cheaper...
So I'm starting to load my gear for the 2013 Sniper Adventure Challenge and I reached for my OTTO cleaning pouch and noticed it was quite heavy (roughly 14oz), and that got me thinking... do I really need to bring cleaning supplies if I'm only going to be shooting 50-65 rounds? I've taken...
Dang, I was thinking that with the addition of the sprint class there would have been a shift with more teams signing up for it than the endurance class...
Six teams in the sprint class... I would think the shooting will be more significant (point wise) to a teams overall score than it...
BTW, I'd hate to carry the rifle at 0:42 for 30-40 miles.... I've skinnied my pack way down and can't for the life of me get under 40 pounds full loadout. That's with a fairly light long gun. Ammo alone is 4.4 pounds!!!
Cool video. My assumption is that there will be 6-8 teams that are there to "win" with the rest of us happy to have the opportunity to compete.
Any idea how many teams are sighed up? Particularly for the endurance class?
A decent starting point is the Army Field Maual FM 3-25.26. Like most things, though, practice and actual experience is needed to really solidify your understanding.
found it: Nine Lessons Learned During My First Adventure Race « Vuurwapen Blog
"A number of the individuals who attempted 24HSAC were out of shape, and a few were medically obese. One team appeared to quit/drop out of the race within 50 yards of the starting line."
If memory serves, I read a blog that said there were teams that dropped out "within sight of the starting line". It was at the start and they were carrying the 100 pound duffle and couldn't hack it... I tried to find the blog again, but couldn't. I remember seeing some pics on CD's website of...
I hope you're not planning on using the GPS for the competition. The rules clearly state that GPS is prohibited...
'•GPS prohibited for land nav - Required to bring as emergency equipment'
Try HSM Match ammo. I've had really good luck with the 168SMK out of my Rem 700 Sendero..... Less than a 2 inch group at 300 yards if I do my part.
Good choice on the GG&G bipod, mine is solid as a rock and tough.... It is heavy though.
Honestly, just stick with the M77 and see how you do, at the very least it'll be light...... At this point, you'd just be throwing good money after bad if you start trying to get a new (to you) gun sorted out in the next 5 weeks.
