New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
Frank... did you ever attempt to duplicate the HPS load back when you were using it? Any idea what powder was used? If so do you have a recipe you'd share? I've got an older AW with an AI 4-16x50 PMII P4 reticle with an elevation turret calibrated for this load and marked HPS. Thx.
I brought this little gem back with me a few years ago. I still think it's one of the coolest of all the military configuration AI rifles. Purchased while serving overseas so no import marks. I'm really debating whether or not to shoot it or just keep staring at it in the case. I really...
Well... I've used a bunch. I very much like the AI two stage. I ended up using a Timney two stage on my 700 which I also really like. I much prefer it to a single stage.
Kinda my thought too. I was thinking I might get rid of my aw 308 as well. Would rather have the commonality of one rifle with multiple calibers. We'll see. Looks like the general consensus here is to just get an AI.
I've got a rem 700 300 win mag with primary extraction issues and the lugs are galling due to a poorly fitted barrel. I'm done sinking money into it. It sits in an old aics chassis which I actually like. I'm looking at either dropping a defiance deviant barreled action into that chassis and...

With all the advantages associated with the 6.5 I'm left wondering if it has the potential to sideline the 300 win mag for military use. It certainly doesn't have the same barrier blind or terminal performance capability as the Win...
So I'm making the assumption that you can then use AXMC parts such as the 308 conversion bolt and mag well on a magnum AX if you wanted to shoot 308 out of it? You just loose the quick change barrel function.
I thought it was odd too. It seems to hold zero. It's a 300 win mag and I can usually hold about 1/2 moa ... best I could do when rezeroing was 3/4 moa but I think it was most likely me. I checked the crown... that looked good. My initial guess was the scope... but the scope tracks and holds...
I have a problem in that I have a tendency to want to push my shoulder forward into the rifle when in position rather than relaxing my shoulder and letting the recoil just hit it. I'm having a hell of a time breaking this habit. Anyone have any advice?
Title pretty much says it all. I've got maybe 600 rds on this barrel... all of it suppressed. About 400 rds since last cleaning so I figured it was time. Used CLR to clean it which I must say worked pretty awesome. Next time out I'm 7 MOA off to the right and high at 800m on a very calm day...
I have a 4-16x50 non illuminated on my AI. It's easily my favorite scope. Love the simplicity of that single turn elevation turret. The one I was thinking of was the Horus with the locking turret. Pretty cool scope.
Anyone know the history on this particular scope? Curious as to what rifle it was used on and what turret reticle configuration was used. I've seen pictures of the 4-16X50 on an older SR25 but nothing of the smaller 42.
Thanks!
I used this technique twice this week and it appears to work perfectly. It's very easy to do. Level the rifle then level the scope. i had to adjust the diopter in both cases . No need to go outside or to the range. Here in Utah there is always wind so an outdoor plum line can be a pain.
Perhaps. Regardless of whether it was two pounds off or twenty doesn't really matter. The bottom line is I didn't follow the guidelines yet the company stood behind it's product when they clearly had a way out.
Normally I would try to minimize airing my stupidity in public. Not today. I ordered a Badger PSR Unimount which I attempted to level and install yesterday. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of dialing in 17 in/lbs into my torque wrench and starting spinning those screws in. NOTE... the...
