New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
Definitely an interesting combination. Optics on the Unertl scope are surprisingly good, although the FOV stinks. I typically only collect the standard issue rifle for a grunt but this was unique. I had the heel replaced on the receiver with a Winchester heel to add a little more to the build
Scope mount was actually built by my gunsmith. He was a Navy Doc assigned to a infantry battalion in Vietnam (think it was 2/5). He couldn't use the commercial M1A mount available today since he needed ones for the Unertl mounts. Built it out of angle iron and was planning on parkerizing it...
I collect Marine Corps standard infantry rifles from 1775 to present and have most of the rifles from the Civil War through early Vietnam War. Just had this clone built, which is mostly Winchester USGI parts and comes with a Unertl 10x scope
Inspiration came from a photo in the book "The...
+1 on the March. I'm looking for a similar long range scope. For a little less money the EOTech Vudu 5-25x50 is one to look at if you can deal with the 5x low end. I just picked one up and am very impressed. Also have a Brownells MPO 3-18x50 on order. I'm more curious about this one after...
In a similar dilemma. I have a 6.5 CM but it is a crossover target/hunting rifle and not sure if works well for either. Also have a 338-06, which I'm very comfortable inside of 400 yards. I hunted with a 340 Wby for years but days of heavy magnum calibers is behind me.
Was thinking 280...
I picked up a B&C replacement for my Model 7. It was a factory rifle in 260 Rem. It had the short pencil contour barrel, which I didn't like and ended up replacing it with a 20" X-caliber barrel.
Never shot it in its original configuration but it was a sub-MOA rifle with the upgrades. Handy...
I may be the odd man out. STI is the choice for a double stack 1911 but I would prefer Wilson Combat in the single stack category. If allowed a third option, I would recommend Luke Volkmann over all of them.
I've owned a number of Wilson's over the years and their ULCC 9mm is my primary carry...
Mark Chanlynn is my standard since I don't live too far from him but timing is key. He does different calibers during the year. Has has some fast twist 22 centerfire barrels and is starting on 33 caliber. He is doing a 338-06 barrel for me on an Origin action I just picked up from Big Horn.
