    Anybody still shoot Anschutz? Help me get a feel for what this is worth today.

    Biggest issue for a would be purchaser would possibly be the mainspring. Both the firing pin and mainspring for the Match 54 actions had changed by the 1980s. I found that out when I owned and shot a Match 54 Prone Rifle made in the 1960s.

    You could rebarrel for 7x57 and do your own loading. Mild loads will do for bush/scrub hunting. It is only when you load for 500-1,000 yard ballistics that you get into the higher pressures. If you want to load for long range, get a decent 98 action.

    It is my understanding that some of those rifles were fitted with barrels having a groove diameter of .308” or thereabouts (those barrels being purchased from SIG). I suggest that you check the standard reference works, i.e. buy a book.

    @sirhrmechanic Yes, you are wrong, this time. :) Dunlap (Gunsmithing) and every rifle loading manual in my possession show the Savage shoulder angle at 26 degrees 30 minutes; and the .22-250 shoulder angle at 28 degrees.

    Gebby changed the shoulder angle to 28 degrees, in order to trademark his version. If a rifle is marked 22-.250-3000, it is probable that it has the original .250 Savage shoulder angle. A chamber cast would be a good idea if you do not have any fired cases to examine.
