Night Vision Athlon Cronus CL35 640 - first impressions, first hunt + 2nd hunt update

I've put it on 3 guns and it has be very close in all three cases, within 6". I don't know if that statistically significant, but the first one was maybe 2" off and we didn't even bother zero'ing as it was determined that was MOP(ig)

Night Vision Athlon Cronus CL35 640 - first impressions, first hunt + 2nd hunt update

Yep. I'm blessed to have property I've been hunting as long as I could shoot and it is still difficult/rare to be able to judge at night.

Night Vision Athlon Cronus CL35 640 - first impressions, first hunt + 2nd hunt update

Was able to do a little side by side action this AM. I'll ask my NOX to forgive me, as it is 'Murican and super awesome in its image and simplicity, but the laser in the Athlon trumps it. If I could only have one of these, it is the Cronus. More soon...

    Elcan Help

I know nothing about the Elcan, but from what I see there - I'd clear carefully and contentiously without further disassembly.

talk me outta a MOA scope….😳

Do agree with with the "if it's 60% off Gucci glass you really want..." ... as long as it's MOA ;)

talk me outta a MOA scope….😳

I am not a Ford V Chevy guy, and I get a kick out of the MOA/MIL debate. I think in inches/MOA and since I'm almost 50 and don't shoot PRS or something that is forcing me to get to maximum efficiency, I'm not switching. Works out for me that the market prefers Mil scopes, I'll take the deals...

Suggestions for optic covers for odd sized ACOGs/RMRs, NOX/RMRs etc?

Thinking more toward padded cordura that covers the action as well as the optic. I found a couple other things last night but they were focused on bigger scopes. These are interesting but a bit bulkier than I'm looking for. https://www.marsupialgear.com/products/padded-scope-and-muzzle-cover

Night Vision Athlon Cronus CL35 640 - first impressions, first hunt + 2nd hunt update

Had a little family hiccup, but I am going to get it back out to the range hopefully next week. It continues to do well on nights I take it out on walks. With any luck I'll get it back in the field sooner than later for real.

An oldie but goodie - the Vortex Razor 1-4x24

I called Vortex with a question about this scope ~ a year ago and was told I was mistaken, because they'd never made a FFP 1-4 Razor... eventually someone who was calculating how far away they were from a pension corrected him, but - that's how you know it, and me, and the gun are all getting...

Suggestions for optic covers for odd sized ACOGs/RMRs, NOX/RMRs etc?

Greetings all. I know I've seen some examples, but my Google Fu is failing me. I'm looking for a cover to protect set ups like this while being transported in the field etc. I've seen some heavy cloth/fabric stuff that clamshells over the RMR and optic. Our place tends to have an annoying...

    Thermal Scopes for Beginners

I've been impressed with the 400x300 Burris scopes for the money. I use a NOX 35, but my son uses a first gen Burris BTS50 and it has been a great investment, killed many pigs and coyotes. I'm testing an Athlon Cronus 640 CL right now and it is very impressive at a $3100ish street price. It...

talk me outta a MOA scope….😳

OK, I'll talk you out of an MOA. Get an IPHY. I did when I ordered a USO, and I've never looked back. #Imperial #mils=commie

SOLD Fightlite SCR Raider - 300 BLK

Perfect for compact CQB, VIP details involving lots of travel, space piracy, and people that don't need a stock to hit things. As can be seen on the shell deflector, very little space piracy has taken place. Gun is 99%+. I got it from a friend on a trade deal and I don't know that he ever...

Quick Shot Challenge: What’s the dumbest shooting myth you’ve heard?

your carry handgun, for which 99% of defensive use will be at conversational distances - needs a red dot, green dot, super tall sights to co-witness and of course clear your suppressor - since you also need a threaded barrel, super light trigger, bored out ultralight everything...

Night Vision Athlon Cronus CL35 640 - first impressions, first hunt + 2nd hunt update

Every once in a while, I have an idea. The Cronus can be used as a stand alone scanner, but the nature of the screens in the clip ons is there are pretty tiny and it isn't super easy to see the display details... Slap it on a rail with a 3X behind it - shazam! I suspect I'll be cutting the...

Night Vision Athlon Cronus CL35 640 - first impressions, first hunt + 2nd hunt update

Another point to consider when we get to a certain quality level is - while to my eye the NOX had a "better" image, by the numbers its NETD is 50 mk netd whereas the Athlon is 25 mk. It wouldn't surprise me, across a variety of temp ranges and scenarios, if there were times the Cronus was the...

Craddock Pangris barrels range trip + The Redemption of Battle Arms

I have quite a few Elanders, Duramags and ASC and MOST of them work on balance, but I started marking mine and it is mag specific. I had more FTF with the 26 rd Duramag and 17 rd elanders than other. With that said, I have a buddy that shoots daily using 5 17 rd elanders and has zero problems...

Craddock Pangris barrels range trip + The Redemption of Battle Arms

I had a plan. It was to spend *all day* at the range. That turned into having to work a little, but got there for 10:45. Plenty of time. Getting all this stuff out, targets set up, etc was 45 minutes. Then I got a call from work that we got in a rush order that I had to deal with at 3PM. Cue...
