    My desired material is heavy duty wax canvas, bridle leather, and brass zippers. Decidedly non-tactical. I also want one that’s deep enough to fit a side folder stock without bulging, and kinda short. Like 36” or so… perfect for a side folder rifle with 16” barrel and suppressor.

    Hard for me to see how a Triji thermal and supersonic 556 won’t get the job done with room to spare. That’s not a large ask. Perhaps you need to invest laser money on a suppressor instead so the horses won’t be so disrupted.

    I think Hornady ELD-M / ELD-X factory box ammo is the best balance of ballistic + terminal performance, and cost for almost any modern rifle. Get some of that, a rifle that doesn’t have heavy recoil, and focus on learning how to put the bullet where it needs to go.
