Did CheyTac ammo almost blow up me and my DTA HTI today?

I pulled with pliers and teh press with no die. Marred them. If I had been careful and used pliers with nylon I might have been able to save them, but I didn't care.

Official (DTA) SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Thread

+1 This was my impression exactly. the 50 is not something you wanna shoot all day. It's more of a git-r-dun-n-run-gun

What's REALLY going on during load development?

Yeah, the idea is, if you have a bullet you wanna shoot and a powder that a lot of guys shoot with that bullet/cartridge, and you load it to the lands and it's 1 MOA, do you say, good enough for now, it will settle in as I shoot/clean over the first 100+ rounds, or do you keep tweaking the COAL...

Problems with stability of Swarovski ATX 95mm scope

Here's another finding: My $200 SSR ii from Swaro has play in it: Swarovski Spotting Scope Rail II SSR ii wobbles - YouTube Waiting to hear back from Swaro rep, but looks like it's a design flaw - there's nothing to tighten the two pieces of plastic that dovetail together so that they're...

What's REALLY going on during load development?

But how many shots does it take to find the load u want?

What's REALLY going on during load development?

We treat load development as if the reloading process is the only independent variable. What if, as we improve our load, what's really happening is that changes in barrel (breaking in or fouling pick your poison) or bedding or shooting or neck rather than full length sizing that are also...

    .375 Cheytac+Reloader 33

I forgot to ask your shooting platform. I'm shooting 132 of retumbo loaded to lands in DTA HTI, getting 3050 FPS with narrow SD. What are you getting in your gun with 132.5 Retumbo and with the 144.5 of RL33? Thanks for sharing!

Problems with stability of Swarovski ATX 95mm scope

When I look at the photos, I'm willing to wager that the current setup is actually taller than the original. But when I torque the current setup it doesn't move near so much as the squeeze grip one. I will look into the geared heads, hell I've been to hell and back trying equipment on this and...

Problems with stability of Swarovski ATX 95mm scope

The 055XProB is what you see in my photo above. It's pretty nice and made in Italy. At Shot show the Swaro scope guru at their booth suggested I consider a carbon tripod because it dampens vibrations better than aluminum and also that if I could find one with the stays or braces that connect...

Did CheyTac ammo almost blow up me and my DTA HTI today?

By my measurement just now with a Starrett Caliper (0.001 - for ten thousandths, I'm guessing) measuring the bearing surface: SMK 0.375 dead on CT BPF varies between .3742 and .3748 CE 352: 0.3745 or thereabouts With my measurement instrument, I can't really discriminate, but both are...

Did CheyTac ammo almost blow up me and my DTA HTI today?

SEND THAT AMMO BACK. And their solids arent' worth a damn, they won't shoot in an HTI, they're the wrong diameter, call DTM and ask them. Or pull the bullets, reduce the charges and reload.

Problems with stability of Swarovski ATX 95mm scope

Well, guys, I converged on the Fluid head you all have been recommending and I should have listened earlier, but my buddy just LOVES those squeeze heads - but they're just not cut out for the job this scope presents to them. I got the 502 tonight and with the SSRII it is pretty darned stable -...

Did CheyTac ammo almost blow up me and my DTA HTI today?

OK here's some followup. I have to say that CheyTac and their employees have showed appropriate concern for the problem that I have chronicled above. I talked to them and sent them my blown cases and the remainder of my SMK loads I got from them. They offered to replace my ammo. I requested...

If you shoot Nosler 300 RUM Remington Ultra Mag Magnum Brass....

you better go to the Nosler store NOW. They have 15 more of product number 10230. This is the 50 count box and they sell it for $90. That's a far cry from 6 months ago when you could get it for about $60 from several retailers but.... They have discontinued the 50 count boxes. They are...

Sorry, guys, but we shoot a lot of 300 RUM in Nosler brass....

I got the reply from hunting4less.com they said teh 10230 part number is discontinued and is now being replaced by the 25 piece box which indeed retails for $60. so that's over $2 per piece for this brass. Nosler website lists 20 boxes of the 50 piece in stock for $90 and 20 boxes of the 25...

Sorry, guys, but we shoot a lot of 300 RUM in Nosler brass....

I keep looking for an excuse to buy a 338, most likely a DTA SRS....but it just seems like it doesn't offer anything that a 300 RUM and a 375 CT don't offer.... If you can convince me, I'll start working on the wife...
